Saurian sprite dump; HELP WANTED: .cfg files & animators

Post by hunter_z »

I have a semi-large collection of saurian sprites. 'Semi' because I'm only including the high-quality sprites here, the kind that match the core sprites in art style and/or would make for good split advancements. Majority have all animations included, including idle, but several don't have their bobbing animations.

The goal is to create a saurian campaign, for which I have already two scenarios. Once I have more to show off, I will create a separate thread for the campaign, so be on a lookout for Tales of the Marsh :)
Worthy mentions: Saurian sprites, Saurian portraits

--
Here's what I'm looking for:

For Incomplete animations:

- HIGH PRIORITY: giving units bobbing animations
- giving complete animations to those that only have 1 sprite (requires more work and is therefore less prioritized)
- portraits (also less prioritized due to the complexity of the work)

For Completed animations:

- finding the origin of these sprites, specifically:
- HIGH PRIORITY: to fetch the .cfg files for these units
- to credit the artists and add-ons used
- to contact the original artists if necessary
Attached below is the .zip archive containing every high-quality saurian sprite I have collected, as well as a peek at several of the complete-animation sprites for those who wish to see if they recognize any:

Sources missing for:
Completed animations: banner bug rider, visionnaire
Incomplete animations: recruit, shooter, soldier, veteran
Lacking animations: bandit, bonecaster, forager, gatherer, knife-thrower, looter, wise
Total units: 2 complete, 4 incomplete, 7 with no animations

UPDATE: Two add-ons has been found: Across the Ocean, Reign of the Lords. If earlier add-ons are found containing these units, please let me know so I can credit the original source! The thread has been updated to include the units that do not have a source listed yet, and are missing animations.

Hello hunter_z,

I'm creating my own Saurian Faction for a campaign. I'm also gathering all the Saurian arts from several sources.
Where can I find the visionnaire and the BugRider model?
I created with the Dragonfly from the Wenosth Version 1.17 a Dragonfly Rider, I thought it is fitting for a swamp living folk.

I created for the Club-Lizard a Bob animation, hope it helps.
I will add the Dragonfly Rider and the Club Lizard to this page.

Now I created bobbing animation for the Knifethrower and for the shooter.
Sadly no back animation for the shooter. I'm just able to use some Gimp-Magic and can't create Saurians from the scratch.

@Refumee Oh, neat, another saurian campaign! Friend or competition? ;)

Did I not include the Bug Rider in my .zip archive? ...I just downloaded it and it is indeed very empty... I think I messed something up while archiving it :p Tell you what, tomorrow I will create a new archive containing ALL of my saurians and re-upload it on my thread.

Thank you btw, I appreciate the bobs! I'll include them, too, just to have everything in one place. ^^ I like the dragonfly rider idea, I agree that it's very fitting!

@hunter_z I would see myself as a Friend :)

I will check out your collection and will add maybe some missing parts with my own collection.
I got some ideas, but I got no knowledge with creating scenarios.

@Refumee I finished two scenarios in my campaign (minus one broken event) before running out of ideas so we could totally cooperate! I'm better at the technical part than the creative part anyway :)

I'll be a little busy today but I'll try to remember to upload the archive. Do you have Discord for easier message exchange?

I got Discord, I'm not really using it, but for this Project why not.
Here is my ID: Refumee#2852

As said, I got some Ideas, but I need to know more about Wesnoth Lore. But thats more for a timeline.
I also know to named Saurians from the mainline campaign, but there could be more Inarix (Black eye) and Vendraxis (Secret of the Ancients).
