Is wiki content GPL? If not, then what liscense?

Post by BFGalbraith »

What is the license for the content on the wiki? The copyright notice at the bottom reads:
Copyright © 2003–2017 by The Battle for Wesnoth Project.
Some of the content I think is also found in the game. For example this content is almost definitely GPL as it most likely comes directly out of the game:
https://units.wesnoth.org/1.12/mainline ... 20Bat.html

But what about related content such as race descriptions, that aren't found in the game (as far as I know...)? So for example:
https://wiki.wesnoth.org/Races

That seems like it is derivative of what is found in game, and should be GPL... but do the authors of the wiki consider the content at https://wiki.wesnoth.org/Races to be GPL?

Due to the use of content from mainline, the entirety of the wiki is currently still under the GPL. We would like to move it to be under the CC BY-SA license, but until existing mainline content is relicensed to be under the CC BY-SA and until someone goes through and figures out if anything else there (text/etc) is GPL, that won't be possible.

See this page, as well.
