Fullscreen mode on Ubuntu, prevents "show Desktop"
Hello, I am using Ubuntu 14.04 (fresh install) and I just installed the wesnoth package.
I set Fullscreen on, through the settings, but I can't get to "show desktop".
I tried every key combination I found or was told on official ubuntu irc channel, including
Ctrl+super+d
Ctrl+super+[down arrow]
Alt-tab
Alt-Enter
Technically, i can always go to preferences, disable fullscreen mode, minimize, do some tasks, then
go back to wesnoth preferences and enable fullscreen again, but that just takes too much time and effort
for something I have to do about every 5 minutes.
On Windows, I can just press super+D and it's done.
I am not sure that this is as much a bug report as a feature request, but since I consider it a huge
usability, UI/UX issue, I would very much like to see it fixed
Ubuntu technicians told me it is not normal for any of the former keyboard shortcuts not to do the job
and that the application must be blocking them, so, I was told to report against upstream.
Thanks a lot, in advance.

Re: Fullscreen mode on Ubuntu, prevents "show Desktop"
Only a hint, not a proper answer to your request:
You do not need to go into the preferences for switching between fullscreen and window mode,
ctrl+f does the trick as well.
This hotkey can be reassigned in the hotkey preferences dialog if needed.
Fullscreen in my Linux/KDE envirenment is not working as well.
I have a two monitor setup which produces all kinds of strange behaviour when it comes to Wesnoth and fullscreen mode.
Hopefully the situation gets better with the upcoming switch to the new sdl library.
edit: And yes, the return to desktop thing is broken with KDE as DE as well.

Re: Fullscreen mode on Ubuntu, prevents "show Desktop"
I have Cinnamon DE and if I fullscreen by my WM (I have a bind Alt+F11 to fullscreen a window in my DE), not by Wesnoth, everything works. (I have Cinnamon 2.2)

I can confirm that KDE's fullscreen mode does as well as Cinnamon DE's work much better than Wesnoth's own.Battlecruiser_Venca wrote:I have Cinnamon DE and if I fullscreen by my WM (I have a bind Alt+F11 to fullscreen a window in my DE), not by Wesnoth, everything works. (I have Cinnamon 2.2)
Maybe the engine should call some kde module instead of relying on the broken old sdl code.
Thank you for the idea.
