About an hour. Maybe a little less. It was an excuse to mess with a square brush.

Love the atmosphere in that last one.

One nitpick about the one before last is that the wolf seems a little too relaxed, almost like it's just sniffing the air. Maybe add a little more arch to its back and make the fur stand up more, or something?

I like the atmosphere in the speedpaint, yet there is something slightly disturbing in the colours. Maybe because the light is very desaturated, maybe because there lacks a tint in the ambiant light and some reflected secondary sources that would give unity to the picture. It's a vague feeling that I can't quite put into words, but I thought I'd mention it since I had a similar impression in the previous picture, this time from the juxtaposition of a very cold greenish blue against warm greys. Or maybe I'm formatted by the stuff I usually watch, I don't know.

The speed paint I'm not too concerned about. I was mostly playing with showing depth and not so much anything else. I think it works. I do need to revisit the hunter/monster painting. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't know if it's a real book, or if it's a relief carved in to the shield. It wasn't my design, so I claim no responsibility nor pride on the designs of either a glowy book shield, no underboob "armor".

I personally prefer the foreground on the B&W ver. but the extra detail in the background does give the colour version a little boost (am I old fashioned in liking black and white? ....)
on the book issue I thought it was like a spell book or something that could cast it's own spell for protection....
On the outside I suppose it could be instructions for a new warrior on how to fight in battle? and he's taking it into battle for comfort....
