Yeah, what a lame idea...forget about it.

Now I found that ghoul is rather interesting stuff. It has 10% fire resistance. I am not saying whether it bothers balance (obviously that is made for balance), or arguing about something people have argued before, for instance "their body is less combustible" or some bullshix like that. Wwhat I am thinking is, ghoul should be equally flammable as other regular units do. While the same time, undead really lacks of a defender pattern unit in default games, which makes them rather hard to balance. When groul ascends to necrophage, we found that these units require lots of exp to level, just like all common defender units. So I suppose we can make ghoul more defender-like, and even make it a defender pattern unit.

You're forgetting that necrophages have feeding, that is some kind of advancement itself. That is why they need a lot of exp to advance.

About the fire resistance:

Ghouls are rotting flesh. They really wouldn't care that much if they get burnt. (or that's the way I've always seen it)

They get 12 extra hp on average during this process...I know

Reasonable explanations, but don't you think undead need a fodder unit?

I'm not sure what you mean by a "fodder unit".

@TheScribe
Sorry, cannon fodder, or defenders, like dwarvish guard, troll whelp or clasher.

I don't think Cannon Fodder was quite what you meant. (it means expendable)

Thanks. That sounds like a wesnothian word. :)

IMO, each race shall have a "tank". While UD don't, so form one of their potential units to be a "tank" is rather reasonable. Obviously it shall not be ghost. Having so great mobility would make it IMBA, so buff ghost won't be wise. But ghoul has potential. It is mallable, and it is made to have defensive usage, counterback little damage but give a posion.

I'm pretty sure the ghoul is already considered the tank unit for undead...

Yet it is, because it resists what skeletons does not and mixes things up. It forces the opponent to get a few blades people instead of only impact and fire, and undead can reply in kind by sending a few cheap skeletons along.

It's MMORG slang.

You meant faction instead of race, right?
And no, not every faction needs necessarily a tank.
A faction without a unit suitable as a tank can compensate with other advantages.

The Wose line is not a good tank unit, bad defenses, bad resistances (fire, arcane) and too slow.
If a unit line in the rebel faction can be called a tank, it is the fighter line.

Sorry bro, though I am not a good mutliplayer gamer, but I am still rather experienced. I believe that "tree is bad tank" theory is most probably accepted by their appearence of 20% dodge rate and negative resistances. Actually they are tanks, and they are rather powerful ones, especially used against undead and loyalists.
