When you have the Magical special, less shots + more damage per shot is usually better.maredi316 wrote:Yeah I thought I wanted share my opinions as well
Magical-Mage-Dark Adepts were close, but the mage has 3 shots, and also does more damage output. Also, has(albeit crappy)melee so that melee unit with 3 hp doesn't kamikaze into it.

Yes. I find slightly hurt Mages disconcertingly vulnerable to attack by other ranged units. Dark Adepts don't really share that weakness, having 46% more hp-per-gold with identical resistance and defense and getting their full damage in more quickly.
A second ranged damage type, even at reduced power, is nice to have.
I'd far prefer to have Dark Adepts available, unless I need to plug a specific hole in the rest of my line-up with Mages.

Re: Favorite multiplayer unit per type(melee, magical, cav,
I would like to revise a bit my speculative look at how some of my preferences might change once the Khalifate gets added:
Melee - Spearman - Best all-around rank-and-file in the game.
Ranged - Jundi - Good ranged and good melee, and fast for a foot soldier.
Non-Flying Scout - Cavalryman - Most staying power of any scout.
Non-Scouting Cavalry - Horseman - Charge is useful.
Magical - Mage - Do I need a reason?
Swimmer - Merman Hunter - It has both melee and ranged, and can advance to a Netcaster and gain slow.
Flier - Falcon - A cheap flying scout, also useful to distract the AI from other, more valuable units!
Armor - Troll Whelp - It regenerates.
Support - Hakim - It heals. And it has a decent melee attack. And it can advance to a Tabib and gain both cures and regenerates!
Spammer - Walking Corpse - It has plague.
I still like the Rami, but the Jundi has such versatility!
