:lol2: Anyway, the Fire Dragon would be nice, but I second the Royal Guard. One of the most iconic "Wesnoth-y" units.

I am very sorry for my answer, no offense.

Well since you have done the necessary necromancy to revive the threat I'll give you my opinion: some people can feel uneasy with the idea of their work being use by other people to gain money even when it's completely legal. I, for example, would dislike the idea of a guy using something I did without my approbation ex proffeso.

Thanks for your opinion

The project will be credited, of course, and if there is anybody to contact I am sure there will be no problem in asking. However if you feel bad about people freely using your work, maybe is a good time to reconsider your participation in a free project, right? I mean, isn't that the idea of free (as in freedom). I mean GPL says exactly that (http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html). If you want to retain commercial rights over the art work, then you should release it under CC-SA-NC http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

Also, no body is trying to still anything (even the Greebo guy may be happy if creators want to join in, I do not know), I want to have Wesnoth miniatures, and I am trying to find a way to get some. Also, they might bring more users!

In any case, let me know which units you have designed (or what art work you have made) and I will make sure that if anything happens you will be asked.

Admittedly, a lot of the units will probably look like standard fantasy figures... unless the models have a lot of attention to detail. Here are some of the more distinctive units that weren't mentioned yet:
Gryphon Rider
Troll Rocklobber
Ogre
Saurian Soothsayer
Naga Fighter

You've missunderstood me, maybe I missexplained, I dunno, anyway, of course I haven't designed any unit and since my artistic work is so bad I couldn't care less about people using it but since I'm a jazz musician I know how you can feel when someone uses your work without asking you even when he has ALL the right to behave like that. It was only an opinion, and I said that coz sometime aergo there was people complaining about a guy that was selling wesnoth for android (or something similar). Anyway, as you said before, you're free to do whatevever you want. Also I was thinking more in the portrait artists than in the sprites ones...
I would also enjoy having wesnoth miniatures and actually I've asked a couple of times local modelers to make a "miniature" based on Konrad's and Li'sar's manga portraits but it was too expensive for me.
See ya!

perseo, "no hay drama!"

If I managed to get a master model for the miniatures I will make it available somehow!! (I was thinking that maybe I can 3D scanning it). Otherwise I will ask the people of Greebo to get not only the physical mold but also the 3D version (I am sure they are using CAD for the modelling) and pass it around. As you see, at this point there might be strong conflicts of interest. . Lets see what I can get...

Cheers

Well, What miniature exactly are you aiming for? One of the modelers I talked with years ago now is looking for some work. He says he can do a free try. And also What scale do you want? 28mm? 54mm? I'm becoming interested in this and I want to see what results of this iniciative.

The units under consideration are (so far)
Spearman http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Spearman.html
Delfador http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Elder%20Mage.html
Noble (Haldric) http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Noble%20Lord.html
Royal Guard http://units.wesnoth.org/1.10/mainline/ ... Guard.html
Orchish Assasin http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Orcish%20Assassin.html
Elvish Sorcerer http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Elvish ... eress.html
Drake Arbiter http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Drake%20Arbiter.html
Draug http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Draug.html

I was trying to select iconic units. Of course, Delfador is just a mage, but maybe it can be Wesnothized even more... artist hand needed.

It would be great that you and your artist friend make contact with the Greebo (http://www.greebo.it/mainsite/). That can create critical mass and make the thing begin to roll.

Well, actually I guess the one who have to contact with greebo is my friend since I only paint miniatures as a hobby. Also as I asked you before it will be interesting if he knows what scale is required. It's one of the most important things, coz artists are specialized in certain sizes.
