Help topics for acquired abilities and weapon specials

If I have a set of units with custom abilities and weapon specials that are only gained through advancements or are on variations of a unit type, the help system does not include those.

First, I'd like to propose a feature that the help system picks up abilities and weapon specials from inside [advancement] and [variation] tags in the [unit_type] tag.

Until that may work, is there a good solution to having these be documented? The only thing I can think of is a fake unit type, that is not actually used in the UMC, but has all the available upgrades so that they are documented. Is there another alternative?
Running Wesnoth 1.12.4 on Mac OSX 10.10
