For Jevyan's hand that is apparently holding the bottom part of the scroll, shouldn't we see his fingers wrapping around the bottom?
It's spelled "definitely", not "definately". "Defiantly" is a different word entirely.

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
None of it, actually. I think his hand would be on the upper side of the lower roll, holding it down.
Semi-finished Jevyan : I still have to work some Magie Noire around the tip of his staff, and the jar can (and will) improve.
Also, revised Typhon according to Kitty's comments

Awesome use of colors. Concerning the scroll... He is ancient. Wouldn't a brown/tan leather scroll would suit him better?

Technically, being hundreds of years old doesn't imply you've been carrying around the same sheet of paper the whole time.dipseydoodle wrote:Awesome use of colors. Concerning the scroll... He is ancient. Wouldn't a brown/tan leather scroll would suit him better?
Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Especially that paper tends to survive less than liches.
So that was a jar? geez all that flattime i was thinking it was an engraved metal plate.
And another thing caught my eye - how come the meat strands when he's so ancient that even most of his ribs broke off?

Based on the preliminary fluff I wrote, only the original skill has to be maintained. The rest could be as old or as new as he wanted.

Yeah, seeing as he has extra limbs, it's obvious that it's not just his base body. He's likely taken plenty of new bodies over the years to improve upon what was.
Concerning the scroll I do agree somewhat about it not looking as ancient as it should, maybe adding a few tears and more discoloration would help with the look of it.

It was just slightly confusing, that's all.
Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Would it be cheesy if the jar was glowing a little as if holding his life essence?

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Who would put their life essence in something as fragile as a glass jar? I think that the eyeballs and other gooey stuff is there only to creep people off (and provide a decoy target for dummies who believe it to be his life essence).Would it be cheesy if the jar was glowing a little as if holding his life essence?

arent skeletons almost like the definition of fragile (unless of coarse they are in another body)

Have you ever tried to break a bone?
Trust me, unless there's something wrong with a bone, the major ones are anything but fragile.

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Gentlemen, please. Less bikeshedding, more critique.
TSI's take on the bits of flesh is precisely what I had in mind when designing Jevyan : ancient liches sometimes build themselves a new body from scratch, so not every bone has to be centuries old or even human.
Anyway, I reworked the lighting on Jevyan so that it further reflects his character. Somehow, an ancient lich lit by bright sunlight just didn't feel right...
He should be final now.
