The helmets are really tempting me to see if I can't fuse them into Chaos somehow too... Nice work.

Thanks, guys.

I think I'm almost finished with these. I gave the dogs a branch that goes up to level 2. I'm not sure what it does yet, but I remember seeing a picture of a dog that was used to fight horsemen by running under the horses and burning their stomachs. I can't seem to find the right google keywords now, so I don't have a link. Anyway...

Trying to keep from getting too rusty at this. This is for one of the guys in the second (real) scenario of BMR part 2. I may have him show up in scenario Royal Rumble as well.

It looks cool, but I think that the spearhead is too little.

Why? Spearheads are supposed to be small. The smaller, the easier to pierce through things, generally. Make it too big and it's heavy, unwieldy, and like pushing a hammer into someone. Might bruise them up, but that's about the extent of it. It's the same reason real warhammer heads were the size of a regular construction hammer. Force concentrated on a smaller surface area = more damage.

That would be the case if it was TOO big, like the size of a trowel. A bit bigger would be nice though, because next to that huge scimitar/sword, the little spearhead looks a bit silly.

The sprites are awesome.

The ranger is really great.

A little request would be to shift him up inside the frame and paint him to the hips.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. The spear was OK width, but it could have been longer. The sword was too big, I can't draw curved swords, it seems.

Tet, I don't see why the cropping needs to be adjusted. Sorry.

It dosen't look like the wolf pelt is resting on his head, it seems like it is part of it. I think it is caused by the top of his skull being cut off, although I am probably wrong. On a totally unrelated not, you're not done shading him I presume?

He's wearing it sort of like a mask or helmet, rather than a hood or cap. Practical? No, but I do not care.

I'm not. I'd rather have a lot of half-shaded portraits than one or two masterpieces.

I usually keep working on the shading long afterwards, 20 minutes here - 20 minutes there. For example, I recently updated the phantom queen, who is probably some number of pages back in this thread because I drew her a long time ago.

The ranger gets a friend. Some of the shading is minimal.

I'd be inclined to use a traditional pommel with a D-ring attached to it if you want to run a string through the pommel (though I don't think that would be terribly practical...) - the currentversion looks at first glance like you've simply majorly borked the perspective. it took me two looks to get how it works, and i still can't shake the initial impression that i'm seeing the bottom of a round hilt. Otherwise nice =)

:hmm: I can see what you mean.
One problem I can see is that it looks like the light is coming from his left. And yet there isn't any drop shadow from the shield, giving the impression of flatness.
My spritework can be seen here.

Thanks. I'll get around to finishing that thing eventually.
-----------------------------------------
I'm trying to get some appropriate terrain for the Primevals, it's mostly for Trinity, but it shows up in a spot or two of Bad Moon Rising. I will try to change the castle (but not keep) columns so they look less like trashcans, but I'm not sure what that would be yet. I drew over the drake villages, but I don't think they look too similar anymore, aside from being made out of big stone blocks.
