Re: Fountain For Use
Added some stones lying around and the water should look shallower now.
Re: Fountain For Use
Wow, it looks really cool. Will that get in mainline soon?
Check out my sprites!
Re: Fountain For Use
Wow, that looks pretty nice! I very much like the dragon on the top.

An animation trail. Somehow the shadow disappeared in the gif, but there is a shadow in the original pngs.

Really cool!
But the water in the lower basin seems to become more during the animation?

I thought the image was good before, but the animation is beautiful! The subtle movements are fantastic!musketaquid wrote:An animation trail. Somehow the shadow disappeared in the gif, but there is a shadow in the original pngs.

Re: Fountain For Use
Personally, though I have no say in this, I think it's good enough to be put into mainline.
Ehhhh... don't mind me, I'm just the annoying little modder who gets on peoples nerves. I'll just lurk till Someone says my name. :P

If you know you have no say in the matter, then don't make the comment. Leave the decisions to mainline material up to those with the appropriate authority. Beyond this situation, telling a contributor this only serves to raise false hope when users air statements like this.Dragonchampion wrote:Personally, though I have no say in this, I think it's good enough to be put into mainline.

Geez, be nice. Is there no room for people to voice their opinion? He said that he thinks it's good enough for mainline, but that it's not up to him. Nowhere did he say "This must go into mainline right now!!!!!111", and he clearly stated that it's not up to him, so I don't see how any hopes can be raised. Besides, it must not be too bad, it's still in art contributions.
A little diplomacy never hurts anything, ya know?
Regarding the fountain: I really like the subtle animation, it makes for a really good effect. It still glares a bit (this is getting into opinion here), but it's much improved (white works better than pink) . Toning down the white just a tad might help, I'm not sure. I should play around with it and see if can do anything. *will probably forget*

Re: Fountain For Use
You can stay out of it as well. Your opinion on the matter was not solicited either, and a little diplomacy would dictate that you, an uninvolved party, would not add your two cents on a matter of moderation. I distinctly stated the exact reason why statements like what he made, while well-intentioned, can be misleading to an artist, and therefore why they should avoid being made.TheJM wrote:Geez, be nice. Re: Fountain For Use
Very cool looking animation. Would it be possible to see it "in-game" - i.e., how would it look against other terrain? I realize getting video in-game might be difficult, but perhaps you could paste it on top of a screenshot or something. I dunno.

Re: Fountain For Use
Ok! For in game testing do this:
1st
1st
- Add a fountain tile to .../data/core/terrain.cfg
Code: Select all
[terrain] symbol_image=fountain id=fountain name= _ "Fountain" string=Gg^Fou aliasof=Gt editor_group=flat [/terrain]
- Add the animation code to .../data/core/terrain-graphics.cfg
Code: Select all
#Fountain {OVERLAY *^Fou ("fountain-01:100,fountain-02:100,fountain-03:100,fountain-04:100,fountain-05:100,fountain-06:100,fountain-07:100,fountain-08:100,fountain-09:100,fountain-10:100,fountain-11:100,fountain-12:100,fountain-13:100")}
- Extract fountain.zip and copy the pngs to .../data/core/images/terrain
- You only need to extract the testscenario in the config folder and you're ready to roll the fountain scenario

Re: Fountain For Use
Or you can do it the same way some campfires and braziers are done, without a custom terrain, since [terrain_graphics] is valid in a [scenario] too:
Code: Select all
#define ANIMATED_CAMPFIRE X Y
# Embed this at scenario toplevel, not within an event.
# Note that it will freeze while dialogue popups are onscreen.
[terrain_graphics]
x={X}
y={Y}
[tile]
x=0
y=0
[image]
layer=0
name="../scenery/fire1:140,../scenery/fire2:140,../scenery/fire3:140,../scenery/fire4:140,../scenery/fire5:140,../scenery/fire6:140,../scenery/fire7:140,../scenery/fire8:140"
[/image]
[/tile]
[/terrain_graphics]
#enddef
#define ANIMATED_BRAZIER X Y
# Embed this at scenario toplevel, not within an event.
# Note that it will freeze while dialogue popups are onscreen.
[terrain_graphics]
x={X}
y={Y}
[tile]
x=0
y=0
[image]
layer=0
name="../items/brazier-lit1:140,../items/brazier-lit2:140,../items/brazier-lit3:140,../items/brazier-lit4:140,../items/brazier-lit5:140,../items/brazier-lit6:140,../items/brazier-lit7:140,../items/brazier-lit8:140"
[/image]
[/tile]
[/terrain_graphics]
#enddef
Re: Fountain For Use
What means scenario toplevel???
Can I put it in utils or macros?
I like the fountain. Keep up the good work. Are there more versions? Any tips how to animate water?
