String and glue would be the answer to that question.

I'm going to be a huge pain here and point out that the technology level of the spears doesn't match that of the armour. Either the flint heads need to be better-crafted, or the armour really look like it was whacked together using tools of similar design. It's less smooth than it used to be, but it really should look like bits of beaten metal if it's going to match flint spearheads. (the art itself rocks.) Examples: 1 2 3

I disagree. Spearheads are fairly disposable, and the saurians don't take much care over making them, since they often break off in enemies, or are lost with the spears when thrown. Plus, knapping is about the only way to make them with the tech level available.

first of all: i really love the head! great texture and smirking! and the new shield works better, too, much more neutral.

i know you've declared him finished, but there still are a couple of problems. if you are interested in hearing/fixing them:
- the blue cloth doesn't behave like cloth. because of gravity it would bulge against the central leather strap and partly over the belt. some folds would help, too.
- similar problem with forementioned leatherstrap - why does it go in below the breastplate? it should fall down (i think lordbob mentioned that already a while back)
- the bronze colour and shading is already much better, but that reflection of the spear and hand just don't work. reflections are fairly complex and hard to invent. if you make them that concrete it will look wrong, just keep it more vague. some unspecific green and brown ones would work better.
- shading, i guess your lightsource is top left - right? at least on the head and legs it is. but why doesn't cast the shield a shadow over the arm and his side? or his head over his shoulder? or the legs down on his feet?
- the tail looks wrong to me. i don't know if it is the orientation or tthe shading, but it looks strange.

keep on working! :D

The cloth probably could do with a couple of fold somewhere, but it was a case of no folds looking better than borken folds there.

The strap... I'm mystified now as to why i shaded it so that it curves so tightly in below the breast plate o_O I'll post a fix after christmas. Assuming I remember.

Point duly noted on the reflection. Ditto for that. SHould really have fixed it already, but was hoping to get away with it.

The head casts a shadow down onto the chest, and the light source is high enough that the shadow from the shield falls down onto the background. But the spines ought probably to cast a shadow over the inside of the shoulder plate. Another fix for after christmas (hope I remember...)

I think the tail's awkward because I've forgotten cast shadows there, too. Possibly it ought to come out a little straighter, too.

Annoyingly, I can't keep on working til january, though, since my laptop and tablet are in cardiff and i'm not >.<

All those saurians are really good, well people already told it but they really are!

You should have a title more than art contributor, like saurian something =) !

Commits are pending whenever I get briefed by mordante on where these go in the new scheme.

Also ... I (or actually, whoever's the admin of our svn setup) should really grant you commit access, if you'd like it. Merry christmas?

I'll wait until the edits on the Skirmisher are finished for commit on that, but the Augur's definitely ready. And was the comment about commit access aimed at me or at Kitty? If it's at me, that would be brill =)

You. Ivanovic says you need to go to http://www.gna.org/ and register an account. Then he can give you access.

I don't know if you're mac/win - if you're on windows, I'd recommend the excellent TortoiseSVN. If you're on mac, there's unfortunately not a good free gui client - you have to use the command-line client. This is ironic, but it's because svn is generally the purview of programmers, and programmers on macs are expected to be fluent with a unix command shell (just like on linux). There are a couple of apparently wicked mac svn clients that are for-pay, but ... it just feels bizarre paying for a svn client.

Ivanovic can set you up with the details.

:hmm: Off on a tangent here, but when I think of my own use of it, the only "killer app" feature of Tortoise is the contextual menu. Right clicking on a folder and selecting a "svn up" menu option is way faster than firing up a terminal, and typing in a command (I'm a gui guy, and I don't have a perpetual terminal window open). How hard would it really be to make a mac "contextual menu item" that just opens a new terminal window, sets the "working directory" to whatever the contextual menu was click-created on, and runs one of a paltry few svn commands? Geez, maybe -I- could do that?

Not to mention the file browser immediately showing you which files are versioned, have local changes or which directories contain such files, being able to easily click commit or revert on any dir and then just select which files you wish to apply it to via checkboxes, being able to view image diffs, etc. And of course being able to automatically do all those things parallel with each other.

If I had to learn to do all that via a CLI I'd probably just not do it. Seriously. :annoyed:

I'll drop Ivanovic a PM, than, since I've had a GNA! account for a while, for bug reporting purposes. Then I'll figure out programs and suchlike once I'm back onto my home computer.

I've been waiting a long time to say: committed the augur and the skirmisher. The latter, at kitty's request, has been switched with Inarix from SotBE and vice versa, meaning that the skirmisher seen in this thread is now Inarix. I will be committing that one soon too.
