I'd like to see them get implemented if they have nice transitions i.e. the current ones can't connect a bridge going north-west with on going north-east.

The bridges are on there way to mainline, but i'm moving slow :(
In my eyes the first direction could be ready now.

One question - will the final version have pillars going further down, or will it remain as-is?
Anyway, keep up the good work. I really hope these make it to mainline.

Good question. It might look better, if they have pillars going deeper. I'm not sure how to code the layering then, but i'll try to figure it out.

Oh my, someone commit these, even if it's just temporary. I really, really don't like the current ones. xD

They look amazing, and pillars going down would be hard to code in...

Quick question: What does it look like when the bridges intersect in the middle of a chasm? Do they connect, or just collide like the previous? Keep up the good work! :D

They should fade away rather than suddenly stop as it gets darker and darker the deeper you go.

That was the sort of thing I was thinking of. But if it will be too hard to do pillars, fair enough - I don't really have much knowledge of terrain coding.

The picture shows the problem i run into. I currently use my own cfg file for this bridge. The pictures are layers and have no transitions. I want to keep the cfg file simple and splitting each layer in a 72x72 picture plus transitions pics would make things more complicated.

Can you post the wml and the images? It shouldn't be that difficult to get it right.

Sure, but the current cfg file doesn't support corner tiles.

My aim is to keep the set of images simple. That means for a layered bridge like this, images should'nt be limited to 72x72 and the max of images shouldn't be more then 3x5 plus 4 images. That makes 19 images.
The 3x5 means, i want to have 5 images for each direction.
  • 1 for the editor group
1 as a single hex bridge
2 docking ends for longer bridges, and
1 as the middle tile for longer bridges
The last 4 images are the ones needed for corners.
  • N-SE
    N-SW
    NE-SW
    SE-NW
I fear, adding more complexity to this kind of bridge would scare off future terrain artists who might have the power to build human, undeads or even drake bridges made of wood, stone or cobweb. 8)

The downloadable set is not complete but i could make a set of sketches you can work with, if you want.

Uhh the transistions to the cave look odd in some places. :( But I love it more than the older ones you made. :)
