Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
Hi!
I have installed Wesnoth with openSuSE.
But when I try to run it, I do not see the Wesnoth-Logo and after initialization Wesnoth crashes. (I think because the data and the images are not found)
I tried with a 1.4-binary and with a self-compiled-1.5-version.
The data-Directory is:
/usr/local/share/wesnoth/data
The program is:
/usr/local/bin/wesnoth
What could I do?
Thank you for aid.

Start it from a text console and post the output here. It's hard to find the problem without some logging info.

Re: Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
If the images are on the right places as you say, then it can only be a problem with the users rights. Do you have read permission?
Does the same error occur if you start wesnoth as root?

Re: Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
I have already tried to set the rights to 0777 - no effect. Same problem as root.

Strange
But wait, take a look at this line:
But as i see, there is already an error before the video mode setting line. Well i really can't say what's going wrong by now.

Re: Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
That shouldn't be the cause of this problem. Judging from the console text, the graphics files are either inaccessible or corrupted. Graphics mode mismatches would cause interesting behavior, but never those messages.musketaquid wrote:Strange

On a side note, Wesnoth should work even at 8 bit mode.

Re: Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
What openSUSE version are you using by the way? I'm using openSUSE 10.3 (x86_64) here and I have had no problems with my custom builds of Wesnoth 1.4 (latest SVN) and 1.5 (latest SVN). I don't recall having problems with the shipped version either. No problems with openSUSE 10.3 (x86) and 10.2 (x86 and x86_64) either.

Re: Wesnoth 1.4 and 1.5 - openSuSE - Data not found
Try trunnig wesnoth using --log-debug=all
Then post output to here if it doesn't help you finding image locaions where they are looked for.

And &> redirects both stdout and stderr.
Maybe not piping through grep will help?
