What Operating System do you use?

Post by nataS »

Edited by Mythological: there already is a thread containing a poll similar to the one suggested here. If you want to answer the poll or read what others have posted/voted for, you can look here.

Can one of the mods or admins make this a poll?
Windows Vista
Windows XP
Windows (other)
Mac OS X
Mac OS (other)
Ubuntu Linux (other *ubuntu)
SuSE Linux
Fedora Linux
Debian Linux
Mandriva Linux
Slackware Linux
Gentoo Linux
Linux (other)
FreeBSD (other BSD)
Solaris (other Solaris)
Other (not listed)
More then one operating system?
  1. Do you only or mostly play Wesnoth on a specific OS?*
  2. Is there any OS you like best?*
  3. Vote: "Other (not listed)"
*If yes, pick that one. If no, go to next option.

Windows XP
Windows 2003 (not right now)
Kubuntu 8.04
Gentoo (not right now)

Not right now means the computer they were running on (this one) has a broken GRUB. (currently running off an OLD livecd)

You can't just say Mac OS X.

Mac OS 9
Mac OS X 10.1 Puma
Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar
Mac OS X 10.3 Panther
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

By the way, I use Leopard.

It would be an extremely long list when I would add all the different versions. It's not just OS X versions that are left out, there are also a few hundred Linux distributions left out with all their different versions. I tried to add most popular operating systems, while at the same time keeping the list oversightable in length. Mac OS users that have any of the listed Mac OS X versions can choose the "Mac OS X" option, and the few users of OS 9 can choose "Mac OS (other)". I was actually surprised by the number of Mac OS X users Wesnoth has according to the sourceforge download statistics. Still the Windows version was downloaded over two times more, so based on that I would rather add more specific Windows versions than the OS X ones. I must say I'm personally more interested in how many people use an OS like BSD or Solaris and the Linux distributions rather than the more specific versions of OS X and Windows.
