Descriptions/categories for mods/campaigns

Post by ekolis »

Say, I bet this has been posted before, but I thought I'd ask... Would it be possible to add descriptions and categories for the mods and campaigns that you can download from the main game menu? Right now all you get is the name, an icon, a file size, the author, and maybe some other trivial info. I'd like to see descriptions (maybe via a "details" button or hovering the mouse) and categories (in a separate column) as well. What I mean by categories is, e.g. "Campaign", "Era", "Scenario", "Map", etc. - basically an idea of what the scope of the particular mod is. And descriptions are of course some sort of long text field provided in the mod definition. It's kind of hard to tell what exactly a mod is just by its name/icon/size/author!
Thanks! :)

I believe that the general consensus is that the idea is good. The only issue is that it's pretty low priority, thus no one has come around to implementing it. So discussing about this seems rather redundant.

The "category" (campaign, era, etc) should be pretty obvious from the name though.

Edit: I usually look at the Campaign/Scenario and Faction/Era forums for details about downloads nowadays.

It's being planned post 1.4 along with redesign of campaign server. There is a half buried thread somewhere in developers discussion you might want to read regarding the toppic.

Locking the thread since it's an FPI.
Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep.
