here is my latest one. No walls on this one, it is a glass building with a doorway at the front. This is made for the Terrran faction in the campaign which is why there is the terran logo above the door.
The glass is done in the style suggested by Sabata.

It shows quite good how to construct them.
The walls could need some kind of texture to show some kind of roughness on the surface.
Help?

Nice, very nice, but it dont look like glass you must make it more visible, a better diference betwen colors may help.Telvannia wrote:here is my latest one. Like Syntax said, the windows seem to have the color of whatever is reflected off them.Syntax_Error wrote:windows are often blue, eg: http://www.mansfield.ox.ac.uk/images/Fu ... ilding.jpg.VS wrote:Windows aren't blue... look around, can you see some? It's different shades of gray, unless the glass is not the common type.
but thats because they reflect the sky; windows in space do not reflect it for obvious reasons. then again, in space, all colonies and ships and stations should be black too so the color could be anything, as its all totally unrealistic anyway. i suggest keeping blue.
In space, they would appear clear [you would easily see whatever is inside them,] because empty space does not generate light.
I think you should chuck some things in the windows to make them see-through. This, however, involves detail work.
For example, through the window you would see a lab, a light, a desk, ect. ect.
ok i will see what i can do about getting it to look more like glass.Sabata wrote:Nice, very nice, but it dont look like glass you must make it more visible, a better diference betwen colors may help.
I could try that, but it might take me quite a while to do.BloodIssyl wrote:I think you should chuck some things in the windows to make them see-through. This, however, involves detail work.

Yes. And in the picture you linked, they are blue because viewed from under them, but perspective on that thing clearly shows it's top-down view. So the point still stands.Syntax_Error wrote: windows are often blue, eg: http://www.mansfield.ox.ac.uk/images/Fu ... ilding.jpg.
