These images should not have a full background (like the fountain and graveyard), that severely limits their usability.

bookshelves, tables and a multihex way to do rugs/floors would be really nice

would help improve "inside" scenarios like in the once mainline undead scenario (TDH, or whatever) --also would help with my campaign ;)

likewise, a staircase image would be great too.

this goes for they're/their/there as well

Here some more statues. Made in 3 turns of the Northern Rebirth campaign. The ai had to many units ;)

They are without shadows. But i will add them if the statues are okay.

These are pretty good, the one big change would be to add shadows cast by the statues on the base, in addition to "on the ground".

I agree with this critique.

That altar is fantastic! Add that with all those statues and we could be mistaken for Diablo which had beautifully done graphics.

You're doing the hard outlines thing again with the gravestones, Battlestar. Love the altar and ruins, though.

About the Altar: erm,... I've read Wesnoth should be family friendly?! I'm not sure about the guidelines for family friendliness, but Diablo-like gorefests are not, I suppose.

Concerning technical aspects: the altar looks quite big compared to units and especially compared to other terrain objects (look at these tiny gravestones and villages!)
And it's made of stone (or even marble), right? You'd have to be pretty strong to do THAT with a dagger...

I didn't draw the altar, Eleazar showed the link to it and I just added the blood stains, so I don't have much to say about its size. Indoor objects are usually depicted larger than outdoor ones.

About the dagger, there's a groove on the corner of the altar to fit the dagger in.

And the blood, we aren't having stuff like blood spraying out of severed head or exploding flesh into bloody mist or anything like that... We aren't getting blood all over the place, just a specific item where blood can usually be seen on. A little blood here and there doesn't hurt. This is far from the level of bloodiness in diablo. I'm trying to say there's a difference in some blood in a special item than to, for example, implement it to all death animations. Besides the idea of army killing eachother isn't entirely family oriented. Undead is just blasphemy in that case, and we have sprites for skulls, bones, skeletons, and rotting flesh. Blood isn't much different from that, just another part of our body.

Warning, gory picture. -> http://sirian.warpcore.org/diablo2/ember-95.jpg
We are so, far from that.

IMHO the bloody altar goes too far for mainline.

the statues are getting nice, but the base still doesn't cast a shadow. Also the shadows don't seem to be all going in the same direction. If you still have layers a .5 to 1px blur on the shadows would give them the standard Wesnoth appearance.

And (in nitpicking territory) the lightness of the stone is too much influenced in some places by the old color of the pixel. That is Konrad's cape is all dark because it was red, and doesn't show any highlights as it would if it was the same stone as the rest of him.

graves should probably be a bit larger, or have mounds of earth at one end, the image is a little hard to read.

seconded, I'm not technically an art dev, but I'll veto that one...

the altar itself is nice, though... try removing the blood and corpse...
