Walking Corpses Renewal

Post by Eternal »

The old ones look... bad. Thus now ones are needed.

There are some skulls in the left... The middle one is supposed to be troll. The rest, I don't know. :D Just random stuff.

How's the WC looking?

The head's a bit misshapen (it balloons out at the temples), but the rags are awesome. I think the dark flesh works, but wouldn't it be better to save more mummified-lloking flesh for the levelled-up zombies and make the level 0 pallid?

Hmmm. I think I'm going to second this.

Also, what about team coloring?

Otherwise, pretty cool.

Hey, it's Keith Richards!

Jokes aside, I like this one. As Thumper said the head is slightly misshapen though. And I can't really see what his hands are doing. The right arm (his right) seems to just taper off into nothing, and the left... I don't know what the left is supposed to look like. I see the upper arm, but after that I'm not sure what I'm looking at. A foreshortened lower arm or a hand? Both?

Other than that I think it looks great. His pose is good, you can really see how he lurches ahead.

like everyone says, the head is wrong.
Am I the only one who likes the current blue dead flesh look?

I don't care either way, but your new ones look good (except for the head, which I'd replace with that middle one).

Also, try and work some (dark) team color into these guys's clothing. It's okay if they magically change color to the new team, when a unit transforms - that happens in a lot of other videogames.

However, it looks very human.
(A troll's skull would be bigger.) I would use it on this WC.

In fact, I'm going to use it for our skeletons, perhaps with a few edits (color, obviously).

Erm, I actually did some *major* edits:

I see now why you pegged that as a "troll" skull.

Eh? :D
Well, the 'D' looks best there. I'll post my opinion there too...

Here's a walking corpse with a new head and greeny zombie skin.
I don't really like the skull-head look... But if you do, it's ok. And please comment on the skin colour. I tested blue but trust me, it didn't look good here.

Bit of a misunderstanding; I was saying that "of the head images you had made, that skull would be better".

But please do come up with a non-skull image if you want. I have no preference either way.

I would dull the saturation even more; and perhaps use multiple colors - this green mixed with blotches of the maroon might work nice.

He looks pretty big, but I definitely like the new skin color. Please change the head from actually being a skull into a head again.

Definitely better than the old one.

Whatever you go with i'd like to see a very similar color on all species versions of the WC (except perhaps the wose). All souless units should probably have their own unified color as well. If you had a multi-species mob of L0 and L1 zombies, i think it would be hard to distinguish the L0 from the L1 by eye.
Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

Aye, your pleads and suggestions have been heard.

A nice look now I think... Colour is fine I think...
And a tweakment out of that fancy stone golem (was fmunoz who made it?) for no great reason.

IMHO the troll seems a bit too skeletonized, the arm on our right (his left) looks as if it's floating, at least on this background. I'm also getting an impression of his legs as being quite stiff, though I'm no expert, perhaps you intended that. Face and other conceptual stuff in it look fairly good.
