Eternal's troll variations

Post by Eternal »

First things first: I like trolls. Perhaps it's because of their ability to regenerate? Perhaps something else? I do not know. :D
So I make troll variations. Or should we say... Different species of the troll race. :)

Anyway. Here's the first ones:
POISON TROLLS
Generally larger, slower and dumber than ordinary trolls. They also age slower than an ordinary troll would. Their skin starts emitting noxious liquids when these slimy hulks are born. Whereas their touch is rather poisoning. Each Poison Troll emits an unique kind of poison. These trolls usually live alone as they are not immune to each others poisons, they are only immune to their own poison. They also like to live in swamps and very damp caves rich of fungi.

Now don't worry! That big fellah is the level 3.
EDIT: Added lvl 2: The teenage mutant ninja troll!

FCB!

(that Whelp is a pretty nice graphic though, by the way.)

Well perhaps this is better then? :D

SAND TROLLS
These trolls are smaller, quicker and more intelligent than an average troll. In fact Sand Trolls are known to practice simple spellcasting and healing arts.
They live as small tribes in hot deserts and sometimes they can be found settled on a beach. They are adept in the open but forests hinder them dramatically. Also caves are an unknown area for them.
The ones smart enough to practice magery and healing are, more often than not, in a leading position.

Lines are not ready yet... Both level 3's are still under work. :)

Idea: Trolls with 70% defense on bridges :P

(These 'sand trolls') are nice.

I demand monkey-like tree trolls!

This is perfect graphics library fodder. Hopefully some campaign designer will take advantage of these.
Hope springs eternal.

They want Troll Tolls! (Sorry, I couldn't resist)

I like your sand trolls and the poison whelp, the lvl2 & 3 poison trolls have rampant pillowshadow-idis, and IMO just don't look that good. I must question the eyes, do they have two eyes close together, or one big eye?

Plus, don't forget their innate racial hatred for billy-goats! (Now we just need someone to do the art for the billy-goats.) :)

The little poison guy, little sand troll and medium sand troll all look quite decent. The big sand troll is borderline. The others...need work.

New Ability: Hatred
Gain an extra attack when fighting billy goats.

Remarkably easy to code since there are no goats!

YET! :)

I agree with Zhukov about the art. As for the concept...the poison troll seems a bit contrived, but I definitely like the sand troll. And maybe we could also have a flint troll, with sharp, chipped edges, that does blade damage with its claws (but is a little less sturdy than the standard troll).
