Thank You Wesnoth Producers
As a long time turnbased strategy gamer, it's been hard to find an engrossing, fun, medieval game thats on par with the older strategy games of yore.
It comes to me as a welcome surprise to find such a high caliber tbs being offerred over the internet today for free! Especially during these days! There have only been a few games that have consumed as much of my time as this game has, which proves (to me atleast) how well the developers did on Wesnoth.
I'm not going to bore any of you readers with my own personal review. Instead, I wish to say thank you to everyone who participated in producing this game. It's people like you that's given an older, jaded gamer like me hope. The hope that quality tbs (and perhaps rts) games can be wrestled from the hands of these greedy video game corporations that only care about profits & revenues. Thanks again guys!

I'd concur, and what makes it really great is the ability to contribute. Not only to the existing game model, but since it's all GPL, even mods and forks, i.e. Spacenoth, which I'm currently doing factions for. I can't remember ever being able to do that with any of the Age of Empires engines. Or Command and Conquer. Or Empire Earth.
The game already has FRIBIDI support in trunk. But there is still a difference in having this support and having it compiled into the binary. Under *nix it is no problem since FRIBIDI directly comes from that platform. But under windows it is not this trival.niranbd wrote: the only thing that i really need now is make the game support FREEBIDI so the hebrew translation will work...
If Uncle K will allow, I join in his praise. That game was already great when I thought it was "just" a nice little project. And now I find a gigantic community...
But that's not astonishing. It's well balanced, easy to begin, graphics are decent or even great. Most important: it's fun.
To whoever thought of the battle and advancement system: you did a great job there. When I had my first advanced unit, you had me (am I glad my BA-paper`s finished
).
Long story short: Thanks for this great game!

Ah who cares about gigantic community, it's the nice community(maybe with the exception of the once-banned) that I like, if you want a gigantic community go to forums.worldofwarcraft.com...where the community is so gigantic that posts end up on page 272(the maximum number of pages) in about 2 hours. But of course, the majority of the people there are [censored].Elwood wrote:If Uncle K will allow, I join in his praise. Hi all, this is my first post here! I can only confirm what was said above, Wesnoth is fantastic - thanks to all the developers, you are doing a GREAT job !!
I am still quite new to it, after a few skirmishes I am now trying HttT - on easy, hehe - and I've been doing quite fine. I've played many strategy games so far, real time and turn-based, and it's nice to see how much thought and love was put into Wesnoth
So... keep up the good work! I'll go back playing...
Stefan
