Mountain Trolls - critics please
Here come some mountain trolls.
I'm having great fun creating trolls for my campaign. I'm slowly getting used to working with sprites. It had been a long time since I flexed my Photoshop muscle like that.
It's a weapon mod and some fur on the Troll. For the Great Troll I needed an armor upgrade and weapon upgrate for my campaign... here comes Bru haul... and his path of upgrades.
Tell me what you think.

Mountain goblin!
This is more than just a coloring. I tried to redo the goblin's clothes. I started by redrawing the goblin's body (with shorts), than I made a fur coat for an eventual upgrade, and additional details for a third level.
I'm glad of how the color and shading came out.
I'll try and see what I can do for the weapon and animation...

I'd take the side point soff the spear fo rthe troll, other than that I think it looks pretty good.
Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

For the spears is it the shape of the spear or the way he's holding it? I'm planning on repositioning the beast... it's still in the 'club holding' position. But if the spear itself is problematic I'm all ears.Disto wrote:The "armour" is fur.Neoriceisgood wrote:The armour is way to light, you aught to add a thicker outline to make it fit in with wesnoth, and more importantly, the rest of the unit more;
The spears aren't to large; they're just not done right.
I'm aiming for something of a 'gentler' northerner side. It's not meant for a full-fledged faction, but for a campaign.
I still have to finalize my ideas on mountain trolls, but yes they have patches of fur on the head, shoulder, groin and thighs. They basically are a bit less aggressive than regular trolls, and have a 'partnership' with many goblins that prefer dumber gentler masters than the orcs.
Mountain trolls are more agile and less strong than their regular cousins. 10% better defense all-around and less damaging attacks.
Some mountain trolls are even gentler, and will try and take care of the 'fragile' life forms that surround them. The rare ones that survive will eventually become Shamans... For now I'm thinking they'll be old very hairy trolls with healing. Maybe Leadership on high-level. Those are what makes Mountain Trolls peculiar, the reason why they have more cultural identity than their more numerous cousins. They are wise and peaceful - for Trolls that is, they still are dumb and aggressive.
Their allied goblins will have specialisations also - still to be defined. Probably weaker than goblins but access to specialisation like backstab and marksman... because those goblin are more 'free' to develop their skills.
The intelligence in this micro faction comes from the cunning of the goblins tempered by the goals and pulsions of the Shamans. They mostly try to stay hidden from all the other orcs, moving their encampments if they need to. Staying high on snowy mountains where few will come and bother them. Sometime they will raid the surrounding with unusual efficiency for northeners, stealing more than pillaging.
Oh, I just got it, you're all talking about what the Great Troll is holding... It's not really a spear, it's ahem... er...Neoriceisgood wrote:The spears aren't to large; they're just not done right.
I don't know what it is. I guess it's the weapon some gang of goblins came up with. They call it "Da Big Weapon" and they thought more pointy rocks would be better than just one.
Eventually a magic gem is attached to it. And it becomes "Da Magical Big Weapon".
But he still is holding it funny.

I love it. The fur lost the whooly feeling, which I rather liked, but the skin color is WAY better. The spear is pixel perfect. But what can I say: Neoriceisgood is good.Neoriceisgood wrote:Here, because I love you.
I'll use it as a cherished source for my experimentation and learning.
Thanks a lot!
