flame wraith

Post by Asereje »

Reading the Ideas forum I've remembered this excellent sprite by neorice. I've tried to animate it.

Looks good

Cynical and drunk and boring someone in some dark cafe ...
All good dreamers pass this way some day

Bravo.

Could you make an alternate [possibly animated] defense-miss frame?

Just have him move backwards and spread his wings/hands wide spread-eagle.

Does he have a ranged attack?

Maybe he does? Those new fireballs I came up with would work beautifully on him.

One thing I want to suggest, quite in contrast to Dave's original idea, is that this not be used as an undead unit. I really, really mean this. Instead, I think it would be a great unit to use as "mage spawn" - a special unit "summoned" (aka recruited) by mages on campaign maps where the enemy is a mage.

Summoning elementals would be a hell of a lot better than the mage hiring trolls and bats...

I'm not really into the idea too much, but I do like the art.

It doesn't much fit with the rest of the undead, but it also seems out of place in the earthy gritty world of Wesnoth that Konrad explores in his campaign.

I like the shape and animations, but the coloring seems a bit too cheerful, if this is an undead unit. I imagine a red or even black flame for an undead unit. If this is an elemental, it is fine though.

The art is good (for coming from neo*), but I don't really like the unit concept. I can't see this as an undead unit, nor, really, as magespawn. Although it would look good as an elemental, I don't really see elementals as existing in wesnoth at all.

Basically, I don't really see a use for this graphic... although I'm sure someone somewhere could use a fire elemental.

*: I have a thing against neo's art style, sorry if it gets you annoyed. ;]

I'm sure it could be used as a fire elemental like unit in certain campaigns.

Why not draw the other three elementals ? Then it should not be too difficult to pass them as magespawns or even free fighting units trying to defend some pieces of nature...
