Leaving aside Rugnur for now, here's a reworked sketch for Durnstorn. He'll keep his axe naturally, but I am pondering doing alternates with and without the helm (and possibly a more relaxed pose of the arms).

I'm pretty sure the face plate is a no-go. IIRC Wesnoth dwarves have a cultural thing about not covering their faces.

Yep. Definite no to the mask. Otherwise nice. Don't worry about the head though =)

I don't recall any of the dwarves so far having horned helmets either. Is that one of those clichés Wesnoth has been avoiding?

Correction: Apparently the Dwarvish Lord wears one, as does Hamel from THoT.
It's spelled "definitely", not "definately". "Defiantly" is a different word entirely.

I don't recall any purposeful avoidance in that matter, while without those horns he might look too much like a ripoff off winged hussars helmets

Horned helmets are perfectly OK. The Dwarvish Lord sprite and portrait, as well as Hamel, wear them, as you say. They're corny and cliche, but that's OK now and then ;)

I see the spike on top of the hammer jabbing him in the ribs.
Currently updating the SurvivalXtreme Collection, and the SXC Pressure scenario. That's about a mermish necromancer, who's just found out that her Tentacles Of The Deep have been nerfed.

Durnstorn's lineart is taking like forever to complete, but it'll be hopefully worth the wait. 8)
Here's a more advanced WiP, mostly to make sure I'm taking the right direction ; I'm hoping to have him finished in the course of the week.

eyelids please?

..Walking Durstorn
7-2 melee impact plague

edit: on second thought..maybe not, but his expression is rather unsettling

another edit: the face protector strap is a little too long, this way if he got hit (assuming that would protect him at all) it would hurt his lip - the thing should end somewhere at moustache or end-of-the-nose level

Well, he did say he was "aiming for a crazed look." I think the Durnstorn lineart looks really good and it's a nice improvement from the first version. The second version (minus the mask) wasn't bad either, but given the choice I think this one does have a lot more originality and character.
