Love it!
I just noticed something. They both seem completly unarmed. Is it intended?
Playing this campaign is going to be so great to play with all those characters!

I want to start playing TRoW again in 1.9.x, but I just can't until the whole portrait set is complete and committed.
And sure, people don't hold a sword all the time while riding... I think it makes sense to not display their weapons in these portraits since they have very few lines of dialogue in the campaign (IIRC), and appear for the first time just as messengers of sorts. Not sure where they carry their lances, but...meh.

Anyhow, I'll probably end adding some tiny bit of a sword (handle most likely) hanging somewhere in the belt region. But honestly, with such framing there's a dozen places you could place a sword and it'd still be hidden.
Edit : first round of shading for knight #1
Edit again : and for knight #2. Both still have a long way to go before they're complete, especially when it comes to defining their scale hauberks

The armour (chain and scale) feels like it lacks a lot of contrast. The darks look about midtone.

Eh, hey is the tRoW-knight-1 supposed to be missing his thumb?
It seems a bit short if not. (On his left our right.)
Also his other hand seems to have a very thin thumb, not sure if these are intended but just thought I'd let you know.

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Both crits are incorrect. On his left, the thumb is in front of his palm. On his right, you're misreading the armour, his thumb is partly covered by metal.JackBarber wrote:Eh, hey is the tRoW-knight-1 supposed to be missing his thumb?

Ok yeah I see the covered by the armor thing...thespaceinvader wrote:Both crits are incorrect. On his left, the thumb is in front of his palm. On his right, you're misreading the armour, his thumb is partly covered by metal.
But on the left he still seems to have half a thumb... Is it bent in someway where you can't see the tip?
(I mean yeah I notice there IS a thumb there... But it seems to have been cut by the joint or whatever.)
Doesn't anyone else see what I'm talking about?

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
The second knight has really, really bright armour compared to the first knight.

That's because he has no pauldrons to cast a shadow on his mail.
Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
If the horses have padded armors they could be a bit buffier at the edges. Eg. near the mouth, ear holes, eyes. It looks more like flat leather canvas. If they are not padded armor then no nitpicking here.
