Thanks, you're right on both accounts. I will fix that during the week.

I had kept the spear tip dark so that it would detach clearly from the sword, but I did not consider the scale pattern behind. A bit of simplification should do the trick.
The tail, I think, is also a matter of brightness : both mouth and chestpiece are in shadow, whereas the sunlit tail and its higher value pop up and read as if they are on the same depth as the nose.

damn bob! you're an awesome artist. Definitely inspired me haha. The designs are really well thought!

What's the best way to make those portraits transparent and colored?
