You can already, just get the corresponding era (Ageless?).

Roger. Noticed it wasn't applied to the tweaked stuff Sleepwalker had posted, so thought I'd bring it to his attention.

Current state of sprites for potential FOSDEM discussion.

yeah, they look awesome, etc.
actually i always thought orcs could look like a northern fur and leather version of something similar.

i have a question.
as i understand isometric perspective the round shields at such angle should look like this.
in sprites, the round shields are always drawn so that the direction of the ellipse is vertical.
is this a flaw, or carelessness, or is it intentional?

Wesnoth units aren't isometric ;)

lol, yeah, i can see that.
however, the vertical ellipse projections of circles create inconsistency with the rectangles that seem to be drawn isometric.

so i wonder what the rules should be?
isometric perspective would make the shield look something like this (quick mockup using shear).

it is kind of a bit practical problem for myself, too.
for example, the mine cart sprite that i have been occasionally working on lately has circles at that angle.
the wheels as tilted ellipses (isometric perspective) feel quite natural to me, but would that be against best recommendations somehow?

We don't see it from that angle, to be perfectly honest. It looks sill when the rest of the sprite doesn't match.

EDIT: collaborative youtube searching led to some useful reference from a video of a buzzard. Accordingly, rework of the falcon/hawk/buzzard/hunting-bird-thingummy is in progress:

:) The Khalifate are looking good. However, there's some banding scattered around (principally on the swords of the Ghazi line, on the arm of the Mighwar [the lvl 3 swordsman], and some on the edges of the falcons' wings and pinion feathers), and I can't help but feel the Ghazi's sword arm looks 'fly-swatted' (for that matter, the Shuja's sword arm also looks a little stiff, but it kind of works with his pose). Perhaps the Faris's spear haft should be a bit longer as well, to help bridge the gap between the Khaiym's shorter spear and the Mufariq's long lance. And I'm afraid the falcon still looks awkward to me, especially the way it's right wing's bent. :hmm:

But other than that, it all looks really solid to me. :)

Yeah, they're no perfect yet by any means, but the kinks can be worked out as we go. The real difficulty is getting the resources and people together to get them in in the first place.

Shameless bump - two levels of falcon.

Anatomically things look a little screwy at present, but that's mainly because these are intended to be mid-anim frames. Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpnncdCh ... re=related for how I'm intending the idle/flight anim to look.

if you are talking of the TC lines, it's a harness. (no real purpose or historical precedents, we wanted to have TC at different places for lvl0 and lvl1 to help unit difrerenciation)
