Wow - that's a really big improvement, shape- and structure-wise as well as regarding the colours :D

The brushstrokes are a bit too visible especially in the lightest patches. You'll need to see if you get them broken up by the linework or if you'll need to put some painted detail in there (which I'm estimateing).
And the large dark patch (to our left) is very hard, I get the impression he got trimmed there... you should give that patch a sense of volume as well.

I look forward to seeing how that will work combined with new lines!

Yeah, the lines and a bit more detail and finessing should knock this guy on the... well, he doesn't have a head, per se...

Oh my gosh, I just love sitting here and looking at everyone's art, you're all so talented. I'm trying to be a little more useful though, so I thought I'd post a thought this time.

On the gryphon rider, his hind quarters look like they are drawn in at a weird angle to the rest of the beast. At that perspective it might not be necessary to show the hind quarters at all. I mean, I know it's a gryphon and not just a giant eagle with front legs, but I think it looks pretty gryphon-y  without showing the hind legs. Just my 2 cents. Again, it looks fantastic!

It's worth bearing in mind that, in the final crop, very little of the hind quarters will actually show.

EDIT: Preliminarily final Wose. I'm pleased with how this has come out. Eventually =D

I am mightily impressed with you work on this, TSI, as well as your work ethic to keep at it in order to improve it. The long time and the amount of effort it took for this "tree" to "grow" is quite reminiscent of its real-life counterparts, taking two and a half months to get from this to the picture just above. Congratulations!

That said, would you be very cross if, for the purposes of my little campaign, I actually used this portrait from a page back? I know that I may be in the uninformed minority in preferring that one, and I gladly concur that in many respects - such as colouring and shading - this one is much more realistic. Still, at least for the feel of the particular character in question, I prefer that earlier one. Maybe it's all, tongue-in-cheek, to do with their hairstyles: I prefer the "I pretend I'm too old to care but actually do" style of that one over the "afro comb over with a touch of mullet" style of this one.

In any event, thanks for all the hard work, and it will be great to see this "creature" in-game!

If you wish to use that one, feel free, but I'd prefer to see the final mainline version used - it would also be easier on your coding, since you wouldn't have to do anything special to make it work.

Noted, thanks! Based on what you said, I'm leaning towards using the previous portrait for the current 1.6 version of the campaign (since that one will require me adding the portrait to be used to the campaign folder anyway) and then changing it to the mainline portrait when the campaign is ported to the 1.8 branch with all the new mainline art made available.

Lookin' good! (Really good!) Seems to flare out and flatten a bit on the upper right, though.

Looks fine to me :)
Congrats on this one - lots of hard work in it, but it has really paid off!

Sweet! Committing - for the moment for the whole Wose line, but I do intend to come back and do a separate portrait for the level 1 Wose, since this chap is just a bit too large for that purpose.

EDIT: committed.
