The current state of the Great Troll sprite, with Jertrel's magic touch.

Perhaps I should visit the irc channel more often so stuff like this'd be more common.

It doesn't look any more ridiculous than the regular Troll Warrior's hammer.

Personally, I'm with zookeeper, it could stand to be a touch smaller to my mind. But I've discussed it with Jet and he feels somewhat differently.

I would say, however, that the lighting direction on the hammer and one the troll himself to some extent is not consistent with most wesnoth units - the troll feels like he's lit from front on, and the hammer from lower left.

he seems a little shiny to me, but I like how big the hammer is.

If that were an MTG card the flavor text would read: "Big Trolls use Big Hammers."

IMHO, the hammer's fine (though it is extravagantly big) but the right hand seems to have too much fingers.

I don't know if it has too many fingers or not, but the hand is definitely too dark. The lighting on most wesnoth units comes from our right. Overall, his entire left arm needs to be lightened up. Hammerhead... I'm going to have to agree with Zookeeper and thespaceinvader. I think it is too large.

My only quibble besides what the above posts mention (and it might be just my opinion) is that his head seems a bit small in relation to his body.

We'll make some tweaks before we add it - the topic was bumped by a person who offered an alternative Great Troll which we won't be using. I hope that someone might be willing to animate it once we finalise a base frame.

One of the many things which has come up here: thinking about anims for the Great Troll. Here's a kickback with a proposal for the hammer: just a little more sanely sized, lighting working a bit better, and perhaps more importantly, lined up with the handle.

I'm thinking about animations, but probably won't come up with anything before the end of FOSDEM.

now that you're bringing this up im not sure if the visible fangs suit him..at least not such clean bright ones, might think about it before trying to animate
