New hero icon

Post by JAP »

In another thread vicza said
Oh, no, not crown again. Silver crown, bronze crown... The crown is symbol of a leader, why other units should have it?
So that gave me the idea to try a star as a symbol for the hero units.
I will also post the suggestion i did for a loyal unit icon since they are matching each other.

Any comments? Good idea, terrible idea, whatever you think.

The silver star looks small and insignificant next to the heart icon although hero units should be more important to the player. =)

I don't know - although the icons themselves look good, I can't quite get into the overall "theme" of all these stars and hearts. The thing that immediately springs to my mind are stickers you put on the behinds of the My Little Pony toys. ;-)

P.S. I still liked the plain ol' brass ring with no additional stuff on it for loyal units better. Maybe this time because of associations with something that might come out of a chewing gum dispenser - "look a plastic ring with a heart!". ;-)

I made a bigger more impressive star just for the sake of it, but okey i realize that i am pretty odd to like this idea :P

(the funny thing is that i like them because i thought i really got them in the "cartoony" style that Bfw units and houses etc have)

Yep, the bigger star looks better - if you like this style, that is. =)

By the way - this pony has two more ideas for icons (you have the star covered now). Oh, wait, is that an ORB? ^^

I liked the previous symbol (in 1.2), the book. It was logical. Who is hero? -- the one, who is required by scenario. Hence the book. Of course, it could be not book, but scroll of parchment, for example, like those marking topics currently in this forum...

:? That was a shield, not a book. It was lifted from the old Grand Marshal Sprite.

IIRC, scott might have made it for one of his own campaigns, and then it migrated into being a mainline feature.
