SeaFire (MP Campaigns and an Era)

This is feedback topic for SeaFire campaigns and SeaFire era.

The campaigns are twofold.

SeaFire: Returnation is a short story composed of scenarios I and Wes'Mar made. All 8 scenarios are made, but are not nescessarily bug-free.

SeaFire: Origins is a prequel for Returnation. Only 4 out of ??? scenarios are made, likely with many bugs.

Both these campaigns are designed for 4 cooperative players, playing Drakes, Dwarves, Elves and Humans.


SeaFire era is an era based on the default eras. The difference is, that all units get AMLA's. Gaining an AMLA also earns a level.
The era is not fully complete, but should be usable.
I was inspired by Dugi's RPG AMLA era.

does not work with version 1.14.9.

The following add-on had errors and could not be loaded:
C:\Users\name\Documents\My Games\Wesnoth1.14/data/add-ons/Sea_Fire/_main.cfg

Please report this to the author or maintainer of this add-on.

Details:

Macro/file '~add-ons/Sea_Fire_Era/utils/' is missing
at ~add-ons/Sea_Fire/_main.cfg:40

Interesting. It works in 1.14.7 and I do not have 1.14.9 installed (yet). Will inspect this.

Also, new version is up since 13.10., I forgot to update this.

I wrote dependency as "dependancy". This caused it to not tell you that you need Era of Seafire to run the campaigns. Fixed it.
(Unless you had the Era installed, in which case I don't know what is going on)

Btw, you can link your feedback thread in your addon. And shouldn't it be 'Wes_Mar' instead of 'Wes'Mal'?

I am certain the use of underscore is because apostrophe is not allowed in username. But since he is using underscore I can change it to that. And could you please tell me where it says "Wes'Mal"? Because it was certainly supposed to be "Wes'Mar".

About linking this thread, I thought I did it by putting "topic_id=49726" as a line of the .pbl file.
As I re-read the page about .pbl just now, I see I misread it before. The "topic_id" tag is supposed to be inside a [feedback] tag, which I did not notice. It will be there in the next version for both addons.

The 'Mal' was just a typo on my side. ^^ It does indeed say Wes'Mar.

Version 1.8.0 of campaigns is now up.
Only major change is adding the 8th scenario.

The platform appears *after* the units move on it, so it looks like they step on deep water.

The music starts very late. Is that intended? It also changes sometimes when a side ends its turn.

You are somehow using the old Heavy Infantry sprites and you also did something to the Cavalryman. His sprite needs more space than it should.

In the intro the Lake was called the Lake of DOOOMM (or something like that), but in the first scenario it's called 'Lake of Ill Omen'.

The status table says that 'Stupid Man' is the leader of the undead instead of 'Richie the Lich'.

The Undead mainly go for the elves and the dwarves, so humans and drakes can sit back and enjoy the show. Also, since you gave the allies this much gold, it would be nice if you add 'beginner campaign' to the info.

Aftermath

have Oracles -> Oracles.

I think you don't have to make 'Aftermath' a seperate scenario. It would make more sense if you just put this at the end of the previous scenario.

The language mistakes: Yeah, I will fix them. (Including DOOOMM)

Music: Changing on side turn is intentional. I only recently got Wes_Mar and Elmerthien to chose what music they want on Drake and Elven turn and will add that in the next version.

"Stupid Man" being side leader: I will try to fix it.

Platform and movement: I noticed this, made platform be in .cfg before movement, even put a delay between them. Perhaps a redraw will help.

Images: It is an era thing. I am using images from 1.12.6, I believe. Perhaps it would be better to just delete them from the era and use the ones in core.

Aftermath scenario: I will think about it. (Same for clensing)

Difficulty and undead attack: I am more likely to reduce allies' gold. Perhaps I should put the castles equal distance from the lake center, so they would get attacked equaly?

I really recommend not doing that. Or to at least add some fadeout for the music when the side turn changes.

It think it would be better if you did indeed use the ones from core. Because they look way better.

That might help, but I can't tell for sure. It's probably worth a try.

Edit: I messed things up a bit. I used the in development version as base, so perhaps the nested string thing was already gone.
