Neverending campaign with choice of progress

Post by dfTruF »

Hi,

Is it possible to create neverending campaign with choice of progress?
That is: player won battle of the campaign and have choice - he can make progress to the next battle (index of the battle marks its difficulty) or he can play past battles (for example he want rebuild his army after casualties of his experienced units).
All campaign have unlimited number of battles (sceneries generated randomly). Index of specific battle tells about difficulty of foe's army. Difficulty level can express in such way: starting wealth of the foe is bigger, starting number of foe's experienced units is bigger, etc.

Is this idea possible in Wesnoth?

This is similar idea to the free choice of progress in such games like angband, where player can choose how deep he want to go without any time pressure.
