NEW: Rock-out! - 1.7.x campaign on server 2/7 scenarios done

Post by Unnheulu »

I'm planning (about to start coding) a SP campaign, which takes place in the complex cave system below wesnoth.
Spoiler:
Click above if your interested in the story

I'm hoping for this to be more of a puzzling campaign than a fighting one, and forit to be fairly easy and short, for newer players.
Hopefully maybe 5-7 scenario's.

First scenario:

You and some other lads run riot the city of Carcyn, where you must stay alive until the time runs out, or, as a bonus, kill the enemy. No matter what, you are captured from behind by some of the Royal guards, who promptly banish you from the city, forever more.

Any comments? Historical facts I should be aware of? Thanks

Any help in balancing and playability would be great!

First scenario done! W00t!

I like the idea for that campaign. However, and i'm no expert, but i think this 'puzzle' element would have to be very simple, or it would be really hard to code. People who know more about WML-correct me if I'm wrong

Depends on the type of puzzle, but in general that sort of thing is difficult to code (depending, of course, on your WML skills).

I like the sound of this campaign, though. Are you looking for suggestions for some of the puzzles?

Thanks, but right now, not really; maybe later on though :)

By puzzles, I don't mean super complicated over the top stuff , just some simpler stuff :P (A few years ago I was making a campaign with no fighting :/ kinda boring as you might have guessed :P)

Ok guys, I've finished the first scenario (thanks so much Gambit!), but, its not too balanced.
If anyone could help on that front, that'd be great!

There are many kinds of puzzles one could easily do in WML.

1. a simple riddle that asks for an answer
a. Multiple choice
b. [text_input]
2. Make them finish some sort of pattern by changing the terrain or dropping an item
3. Make a hexagon of terrain (or items). Make a few copies of it. Two of the copies are not quite finished. Make them fix this.
4. A statue must be attacked with the proper damage type (which they discern via a riddle).
5. Placing the right unit types on the right type of runes on the ground.

Ok, completely rewritten the first scenario (other than the map) at Gambits request.

Download in the first post.

Any help in balancing and playability would be great!

This isn't working for Gambit, can you give it a try and see if it works for you? Thanks!

Okay, I played this on the middle setting ("Easy"). It works. As best I can tell, the coding does what you want it to do. However ...

Meh; by my current plans the puzzles start on scenario 3. The accent is based on my local (local) dialect.

Kay, I'm halfway through the 3rd scenario and I need a break before I get a block. I'm just planning on doing a mini-campaign to stop me getting bored. I will then return to this after; cause all these movetos is confuzzling me :-D

Anyways, if anyone wants I can upload a half complete half playable, no fighting, version of the third scenario to the server...
