Coming of the storm bug: campaign does not load

I downloaded release 1.15 and now when I try loading a new campaign i get this when loaded in the terminal

The error message is :
'border_size' should be '1' when 'usage = map'
 
When reporting the bug please include the following error message :
Condition 'border_size_ == 1' failed at map.cpp:181 in function 'read'.
I am thinking there is something wrong with 25_OldFoe.cfg

Hard disk with windows and game/modding partition got corrupted. Most of the data is lost forever. Stuff for ALL projects I work on was there. ALL. Infintiy, Freespace, Sword of the Stars, BOTF2,UFO:AI, etc, etc...

Crap. Double crap. And I was just about to upload an update too..... :annoyed:

Not fully tested, but it does have 1 more mission.

get a linux live cd and run it via the live disk and you may be able to get your files off your hard drive and onto a flash drive. *might*

I read it and I don't get what the error was.

My map data follows the smae pattern in all of my scenarios:

Does 1.6.4. now require to add .map at the end every time?

I'd really expect newer version to have more backwards compability.

Ah, who cares. Fixed and re-uploaded. At least I'm trying to re-upload it. Damn host keep disconnecting....

Old Wesnoth player, back for the first time in a year or so; just played straight through CotS.

First: kudos: some genuine innovation, some neat tactical challenges, a lot of rewards for smart play. Thanks - really held my interest.

A couple of small bugs: the Cleric-advancement issue mentioned above (easily fixed by editing out the unit's advanceto line); the odd fact that the Phoenix never shows up visibly (but nothing crashes, I just got misdirected for a bit), and - I believe, long time back - an odd problem with the docks scenario where I actually managed to knock off (flukily) Loghain - as I recall, this is ludicrously unlikely, but *maybe* should have a plot element to cater for the chance?

Basically, though, just thanks :-).

Hi Trashman,

First of all, I'd like to congratulate you on a really interesting campaign. I am really very impressed by the way you have used mostly generic units in such an innovative way. I am currently on scenario 18, and very much enjoying this campaign. However, there was a strange problem related to Ellderon picking to be either a Crusader / General / Marshal of Light in scenario 16. I choose the General/Marshal of Light option, and it crashed.....


After looking a bit at the WML, I believe that the closing [/if] tag in scenario 17_Sacrifice should not be wrapping the [else] tags and instead should be [if] ...stuff... [/if][else] ...stuff... [/else] . Upon doing this the crash was fixed. However, Ellderon still wouldn't transform into a General/Marshal of Light. As far as I can tell, it seems that WML doesn't detect [switch] tags nested with the [else] tag, so the only way I have been able to get Ellderon to transform properly is by just forcing him to turn into a General/Marshal of Light whatever he chooses (like how you did it in 'Orcish Incursion'). Do you know whether this is right? (as I couldn't find any resources on legal nesting formats within if/else tags online).. It does seem to work at least..

To allow the choice to work properly, I suggest maybe properly setting a 3-valued variable in scenario 16 (to encompass all 3 possible units Ellderon might transform to), and then having a 3-case switch statement in scenario 17 ?

Anyways, congrates again, I look forward to seeing what happens next in the story :)

Hello,

Started to play CotS and enjoy it very much.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to pass to scenario 4: got famous error "unknown scenario '04_Tidings'". While indeed this scenario exists...
Playing on latest stable release of Wesnoth: 1.6.5, while the first post of this thread states CotS is intended for 1.6.4; may be the reason?

By the way, I could not find "spontaneously" the right way to end scenario 3 "flight". Had to look inside WML to find the proper place leaders have to reach. As the objective is "escape the valley to the NW", and there is a big castle at the NW, and the right place to go is not actually at the NW corner, I find it misleading.

Hiya,

I'm playing this campaign at the moment, and would like to echo the positive comments that have been made here - this is a great campaign!

The part where I'm getting stuck is the scenario "A New World". When Valinor levels up, the game crashes ("Unknown unit type '' while generating traits"). Is this a known (and fixable) bug? Until this point, I've not encountered any problems, but Valinor seems to be unfinished (he has no resting sprite, for example).

Can anything be done about this?

Cheers, and keep up the good work. I've played tons of campaigns, and this in one of my very favourite!

I agree with the positive reviews here; this is a fun campaign with a good story. I would vote that it join with the mainline campaign after it gets a bit more polish. There are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. I am willing to help with proofreading.

Could someone will give me a hint how to get past the New World scenario? I have gone through it twice and run out of turns, combing every part of the map. I have found all the main characters (Lotion, Aquae, Valinor, Ithilien) and explored the whole island, including the trail of gravel in the ocean. What am I supposed to do to get past this scenario?

I finally got through the New World scenario after finally tripping across the 'strange creature' which must be followed.

What triggers the appearance of that creature? I think I uncovered that area of land previously but it did not show up.

I just finished playing Coming of the Storm (sort of)...it ended on the training grounds. Somehow it seemed unfinished...just as I was gearing up to kick some undead butt, and chase down Loghain, it was over.

Is CotS still under active development? Trashman, are you still out there? Do you want any volunteer help?
