New logo translations: Speakers of ALL languages needed!
The new logo is now in a stage where I'm working on the translated versions. I'm going to do the graphical work myself, but I will need some help with the languages. You don't need to edit graphical or translation files, all I need is your input in this thread. So if you are native speaker - or very fluent - in a language other than English, please read further, you might be able to contribute.
The translations of following languages are using the english name for the game, so they don't get their own translated logo either:
For the following languages I will need somebody to post here the translated name of the game, so I can cut and paste it to Inkscape (some of them do appear in the game, but the user interface doesn't allow copying):
And here is Afrikaans (af): Catalan (ca): Czech (cs): More will follow shortly.

- Is the spelling correct?
- Does anything else look wrong or weird? (I have to recreate some missing characters and some languages might follow specifit typographic conventions I'm unaware of)

Hi Sgt. Groovy,
it's incredible that you do the translated versions as well! I only speak French and German, which you don't seem to need right now, but I could at least crawl the translation files:
Croatian:
Bitka za Wesnoth
Marathi (deduced from the "The Battle for Wesnoth Help" string and verified with google translate) :
वेसनॉथसाठी युद्ध
Shavian english is Espreons personal project and uses characters that basically no font supports - IIRC we had to specifically add those symbols to our in-game font.
Filipino (tl) uses 'The Battle for Wesnoth', so no localized version is necessary.
Arabic, Friulian, and Romanian didn't translate the name of the game, so I can't help there.

Oh, I would also need the string for Chinese (for both zh_CN and zh_TW, if they differ).

Marathi, with a different font that might better match with the latin versions:

Re: New logo translations: Speakers of ALL languages needed!
Italian native speaker and translator here.Sgt. Groovy wrote:The translations of following languages are using the english name for the game, so they don't get their own translated logo either:

Italian (it)
...
If anyone knows a good reason why these languages should get a translated logo, please let me know.
The translation of the title is "La Battaglia per Wesnoth", con "La" being the small article placed above the rest of the title.
As for why there isn't a translation, it's simple: the translation maintainer disagreed in translating the title, stating that most games title aren't translated in Italian, so the game's name is "The Battle for Wesnoth" and it should stay as such even in the translated version.
However, several users in the discussion (which happened in the Wesnoth Italian Forum) didn't mind having a translated title, and some even preferred that option.
However, the situation may change at any given moment, first because people can change their opinion, and second because if we add an in-game option to use the untranslated title the main issue will be solved.
So, can you please make an Italian localization of it?
Current maintainer of these add-ons, all on 1.16:
The Sojournings of Grog, Children of Dragons, A Rough Life, Wesnoth Lua Pack, The White Troll (co-author)

Simplified Chinese:
韦诺之战
Traditional Chinese:
韋諾之戰
Similar to Italian the zh_TW translation seems to mostly use 'Battle for Wesnoth', but it can't hurt to have the translated logo, I guess.

As a non-Marathi-speaking Devanagari-reader I’d say these look OK. The fonts used in the images above are akin to using, say, Arial and Times—while traditional in modern printing they do not give the same “medieval” feeling as the current Latin font. Marathi speakers, would a Modi(-esque) font be better suiting?Sgt. Groovy wrote:Marathi, with a different font that might better match with the latin versions:
