I like the two depending of the time i've got and the kind of scenario i want to play.
NO FOG games are less scout oriented (they are only needed to grab villages faster), more battefield-oriented while FOGed games you can try to surprise you ennemies so the scouts are far more importants.
Usually FOG makes the games longer so i don't like it on larges maps (except if i have plenty of time).

I quite like fog, as it makes scouts more useful, among other things.

The only problem I can think of with fog is that it slightly reinforces the advantage of the player going first. In a no fog game, the second player can recruit counters to the first players choices, slightly redressing the balance.

The bottom line is that a competent commander should be able to cope with whatever conditions the host has set for the game.

One complaint I've seen about fog that is easily solved is the suggestion that fog means you cannot use "UNDO". Simply right-click and put a cross in the "delay shroud update" box. As long as the shroud doesn't update, you can undo moves to your heart's content.

A properly balanced map will eliminate this problem. But yes, that's one reason why symetrical maps are rarely balanced.

What about black mask? Or do you just dislike/like(depending on side here) fog of war?
EDIT: Obviously, fog of war can't be possible without black mask, but I don't even know if Wesnoth makes the distinquishments.
well, if wesnoth was a real life war you could know the battle field but not know where the enemys troops are placed which would be kind of like a game with FoW but no shroud[/quote]
I got lost in thought, it was unknown territory.

The Outcasts need your feedback

Isn't there a "fog as nog fog can both be good" clan?
Both are interesting. And some maps are better with fog than others can be.

Which leads to the question: What is "nog fog"?

I understand now! Fog interferes with your gears and circuitry!

Pffft. Who are you kidding, you can't even get your clan together to play a match, much less exterminate anybody.

Run along now, and leave the playing of wesnoth to real players, who play with fog.

*shrug* well, that's another reason I didn't like calling it a "clan"... I'm getting tired of this stupidity. We're not like a gang, like a stereotypical clan, we're like a nonprofit orginization. Stop using clan stereotypes on us.

and by the way - I've offered you a match. Again. It didn't work. Again. Stop acting as if I'm not willing to play. It's you who's not up to the task of organizing a game.
