I assume you mean to the MP server, since you clearly can log in here?

So that's why i haven't been able to reach the add-on server lately.
Only problem: i registered on the forums but i still don't know how to reach the add-on server - it keeps disconnecting every time i try. Where am i supposed to enter my account name & password?

(Mac version 1.14.4)

The add-ons server has no forum account requirement - it's only the MP server that does.

The in game MP server won't let me log in even though I'm registered... can anyone help?

I figured it out it finally let me in but it was saying I have incorrect letters being used or something of that nature

The exact error text is really what's needed, whether you type it out or take a screenshot of it.

Please use proper spelling and grammar. There are a number of reasons why you might not be able to join a game (a host can make a game password protected, or enable plugins that everyone must have, etc). What exactly were you trying to do and what error message did you get?

On this matter, I have to say that, some of my friends dint want to try Wesnoth cause of the registration annoyance and a couple stopped to play altogether.

Yes, I have the same, a few friends of mine who plan in my LAN party didn't want to create accounts so they just don't play on the servers.

However, they seem perfectly happy like that so I would suggest that it is not a negative that people must register in order to maintain the quality of the MP servers. Instead (considering the registration requirements for so many other games) I would say it is a positive that so much of the game (SP and local) is available without having to register. That is a big part of what makes wesnoth so good and definitely shouldn't be changed.

As for the registration, I support it. As I told my friends, it is better to force registration and minor inconvenience than allow a toxic environment and trolls to overrun the servers. I have played plenty of games which don't have proper moderation, and they might as well not have a MP server for all its worth ...

Gnat, is not wrong, but I think that an in-game registration method would benefit alleviating some of the annoyance, of doing everything manually.

In-game registration would do nothing to keep the riff-raff out; but it would provide an excellent attack surface.
I forked real life and now I'm getting merge conflicts.

Some of my friends didn’t want to try Wesnoth because it’s a strategy game. Some people don’t want to try Wesnoth because of the RNG’s involvement in gameplay. Some people don’t want to try Wesnoth because of the 2D art style. The list goes on. There will always be reasons for people not to try something. At the end of the day what we decided to do might not be the best for numbers, but other than that it has yielded the results we were hoping for and we’re not changing that to suit the preferences of a limited demographic (just like the whole thing with HttT’s portraits).

As for adding a system for allowing users to register through the game interface, I personally have looked into it as the current forums backend administrator. It’s not going to happen any time soon, unfortunately.

What we are doing is looking into solving the technical platform issues with one or both of the official alternate servers (which cannot and will not require registration) so that they become available for 1.14.x players to use again.
