I guess you are in 1.12 server. There are lot of players that still didnt upgrade version and still play in 1.10 sever. Pacience, they will migrate soon to 1.12 :)

Try 1.10 until there are more 1.12 players.

I must admit that I didn't even try 1.12 until
today, but I like the changes.

Be a promoter for Wesnoth! Spread the word by telling your friends. Tweet about it. Make YouTube videos. Ask people to play it on Twitch!

The best long-term way to get a thriving community is to get people into the community.

I think that server under 1.10 should be down after the 1.12 release.

I don't know about going that far, but it should definitely have a note in the welcome message that suggests upgrading. Does it?

I'm going to give some of my friends a copy of wesnoth in the hopes that they like it. Like I said in http://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php ... t=facebook I've never heard of anyone at all in my country who has heard of wesnoth. People might be more inclined to get into it with the android/iOS versions because they can play it while they have to wait for things?

I agree. Wesnoth is a great game and actually has people around it, not like a nameless mainstream release. That is pretty special, but if you want new players to be attracted to it, especially the online, players have to be a lot more welcoming. I don't know what it is, but most of my online people try to prove that you are 'noob'.
Anyway, I was also thinking new graphics such as in Witcher III? Imagine that.

We have new graphics, which took years to do. You should look at some of the old screenshots.

Yes Beetlenaut, I spent hours trying to figure out what compiling was so that I could have the latest Wesnoth release. It was kind of joke, but I'd still like to see it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJlkMAZTEPI . No disrespect, cheers

Zelaz, it’s impossible to compare these two games.
  • Witcher III, a commercial, real-time 3D roleplaying game developed by a corporation and publisher with millions of dollars
  • Wesnoth, a free and open source, turn-based 2D pixel art strategy game developed by volunteers in their own spare time
What you are requesting is unrealistic and unattainable for this project..

I've noticed a recent influx of players on the 1.12 servers. Hopefully it is exactly that, and not just because I was logging on at different times.

In regards to the last couple of posts above:

Wesnoth is pretty freaking gorgeous for what it is and sets out to be.
If you are offended by something I've posted, just PM me. It probably wasn't intentional.
