I have a new best friend

Post by Jetrel »

Seriously. Whoever implemented this - I love you.

The lack of it has caused me so much aggravation in the past.

Didn't notice that before. Thanks for mentioning it so that I could use it.

This is a great feature, but out of curiosity, why is it an option? Are there people who like the game to scroll when the mouse leaves the window?

Maybe for people with small resolutions, where non-fullscreen wesnoth is pretty much fullscreen :D.

"But why don't you just use real fullscreen then?". For me at least, it breaks window/desktop switching shortcuts (on KDE).

I don't know about you, but if I'm trying to edge-scroll, I don't want it to stop scrolling because I moved my mouse a bit too far to the left or something.

Same. When I alt tab out of wesnoth, and then come back the alt key is stuck on inside wesnoth. It's really annoying.

Jetrel: you're welcome ;)
Dave: it's an option because when I changed the behavior I think one or two devs complained about it with a use case that seemed reasonable enough to warrant an option. Might want to change the default though, I don't remember which way it is now.

Would it be possible for you code an optional extension of scroll area? Its quite nice how it is but you do have to be a bit precise with where you hold your mouse. I guess different resolutions probably work better with different scroll areas too.

Effing thank you. That bugged me a lot too.

Such a minor thing, yet such a major impact.
