Highest Possible Single Hit?

Post by Beholder »

I was fighting the campaing and sometimes the Knights really surprised in the "big number" departament due to Charge.

So I started to think what is the highest possible single hit you can have in the game whitout editing a character.

My best score so far is 80 points of damage on a single hit obtained with a Drake Warden defending against a charging Horseman at day light.

Charge (+100%) + Pierce (+20%) + Day (+25% Lawful) and a base of 24 (strong, +1 melee) piercing damage for the defending Drake.

Wonder if anyone can generate a bigger number. :)

strong grand knight in day against undead with the holy water in heir to the throne. 18*2charge*1.25daylight*2holy against undead = 90 damage.

do special scenarios count? if so, I've got one: 1200-ish. (yes, it's possible) holy +200% against lich, 400ish damage in one hit, blocked knockback, x3 damage, =1200ish damage :) :D

if you count that, then lancer does 96 IIRC

The Lancer actually do less damage on each hit, but may end up doing more damage overall.

For total damage per attack (I don't care about single hits) without silliness like item modifiers:

Lancer can do 102 damage total to a -20% pierce resistant unit in day:

12*1.45 = 17
17*2 = 34
34*3 = 102

If Lancers can get strong, we have:
13*1.45 = 18
18*2 = 36
36*3 = 106

Same situation of a strong Lancer, now under a Grand Marshall's leadership:
13*1.95 = 25
25*2 = 50
50*3 = 150

However, in terms of base damage with no modifiers except time of day, a Great Mage does in day:
16*1.25 = 20
20*4 = 100

Against a Wose in day, a Great Mage does:
16*1.75 = 28
28*4 = 112

Which is higher than the Lancer's damage without Leadership. Too bad Leadership doesn't help a Great Mage.

Similarly, a Drake Enforcer defending against a charge in daylight can do a maximum of 110 HP damage (130 for strong), a Drake Warden can do 132 (136 for strong) in the same situation.

In terms of sheer damage, a Lancer under a Grand Marshell's leadership is probably best, mainly because you control the attack.

Great Mages are neutral.

MOL in day on Undead:

10*2.25 = 22
22*4 = 88

Under leadership you get

10*2.5 = 25
25*4 = 100

Not bad.

A strong berzerker does potentially 30 x "8-4" = 960 damages to an adept. :P
Don't trust me, I'm just average player.

and 1248 (960*1,3) damage to a Thief.
now thats gotta be one REALLY resilient thief.

EDIT: and 1560 damage under lvl 3 leadership.
and 2184 damage under lvl 5 leadership (not that it would exist mainline)

Someone should make an modern console RPG (ala Final Fantasy) campaign where everyone has 9999 hit points and does a minimum of 500 damage on every hit.

Cutting wit.

Ah, the joys of HP/Score/Whatever inflation.

I remember the days of yore, when 16HP was a high count.

someone should make a 1 hp unit with 99% defence and magical-defying special. just for annoyance.

or, you could make a whole faction of these. something to counter thunderers ;)

This is where being pedantic fails people. He actually means single attack, not single hit, despite what his wording technically means.

Yeh. Though really inflation goes all the way back to Space Invaders/Galaga where you scored points in increments of 1000...
