Wesnoth 1.14.5 is out!

This is a regular maintenance release for the stable 1.14.x series, delivering bug fixes and translation updates. As is the norm for updates to the current stable series, this release is fully compatible with previous 1.14.x versions.

Changes since 1.14.4

Read on for more details about the most notable fixes and additions since the previous stable release. A full list of changes may be found in our changelog.

General
Heir to the Throne:
  • S6: Allow canceling an attack when a move+attack spawns enemy units (issue #3459).
  • S6: Change the trigger for spawning undead reinforcements (issue #3459).
  • S17: Add dialog explaining the lava game mechanic and an easter egg (issue #3473).
Liberty:
  • S3: Add story and war drums music.
Northern Rebirth:
  • S12: Empty sides are hidden.
  • S13: Allied leaders whose death causes defeat will not leave their keep.
  • S13: The lich brothers and Krash got more gold.
Sceptre of Fire:
  • S4: A cave entrance has been added.
  • S5: Gryphon Riders are now available starting from S5 (formerly S3).
  • S7: It is now impossible to kill all pursuers.
Secrets of the Ancients:
  • Fix dialog said by wrong unit & revert previous fix (issue #3294)
The Hammer of Thursagan:
  • S10: Fix objectives requiring too much of the player
The South Guard:
  • S2: The case where Deoran is not sent to the citadel is handled better.
  • S2: Enemy units will no longer neutralize villages instead of capturing or burning them. This also means certain units will no longer be hidden in the Game Stats list.
  • S4: Bodyguards are never spawned next to other units, and always in forest.
  • S5: Zombies have now one castle with two leaders.
  • S6a: Mermen leave after this scenario and will no longer be available.
  • S7a & S8a: A certain hero may now die.
Tutorial:
  • Show an undo reminder if the player is out of moves but cannot end the turn yet.
  • Added more information to the Status Table prompt about how to access it (issue #2883).
Under the Burning Suns:
  • New graphics for Eloh.
  • A New Land: Fixed village gold being 1 instead of 2.
  • Fixed Random Start Time not working (issue #3515).
  • Fixed a possible crash when leaving a game as an observer (issue #3017).
  • Fixed Start Game locked when other players abort the faction/leader selection dialog (issue #3452).
  • Fixed OOS errors when undoing after ally chat.
  • Fixed Skip Replay when joining multiplayer campaigns.
  • Fixed game freezing upon droiding with Delayed Shroud Updates enabled (issue #3453).
  • Fixed require_scenario and require_era attributes.
  • On laptop computers the game now displays how much battery charge is left.
  • The Add-ons Manager now uses clearer terms for sorting order.
  • On turns of enemy sides, the game no longer scrolls to that side’s leader if it is invisible.
  • Fixed reversed unit level sorting in the Unit List and Recall Unit dialogs.
  • Fixed a crash in the Recall Unit dialog when no units match the filter (issue #3475).
  • Added left padding to dialog messages shown with a portrait on the right (issue #1938).
  • Leader sprites larger than 72x72 are now downscaled in the Load Game dialog (issue #3474).
  • Load Game now shows the chosen difficulty with the same name that was originally selected by the player.
  • Load Game now shows the modifications enabled in the selected save (issue #3495).
  • Fixed the Preferences dialog’s layout with some localizations (such as Czech).
  • Fixed moving the mouse with a touchpad also scrolling GUI dialogs on macOS.
  • Added build number to OS version report on macOS.
  • Fixed crash when pressing Reset replay (issue #3439).
  • AI engine fixes:
    • Fixed crash in AI code when a side has multiple leaders.
    • Fix AI ignoring teleport locations when moving leader to leader goals.
    • Fast Micro AI: Fix bug crashing the AI when units with chance-to-hit specials without id are on map.
  • Fixed crash when trying to attack with a unit without usable weapons (issue #3424).
  • Fixed the debug mode Create Unit dialog crashing when changing the gender of the previous selection after causing the list to come up empty using the filter box.
  • Allow searching by race and internal unit type id with the Create Unit filter box as well.
  • Fixed the map editor being unable to add starting locations for more than 9 players.
  • Fixed :droid ignoring its second argument.
  • Fixed :droid giving no feedback when successful.
  • Show an error message when trying to open the Lua console while not in debug mode.
  • Fixed objectives at scenario start using old/cached values of conditions/variables (issue #3544).
  • Fixed [animate_unit] and [heal_unit] preventing unit halo from disappearing if the unit dies later (issue #3509).
  • Fixed crash in Lua tstring comparision (issue #3541).
  • wmlxgettext is now included in release packages, so a separate download is no longer required to use it with GUI.pyw.
Known Issues
General bugs:
  • The multiplayer observer icon appears at the wrong location, behind the minimap (issue #3543).
Bugs specific to Windows:
  • OneDrive can interfere with Wesnoth’s user config/data directory set-up, leading to all kinds of different manifestations of the issue. There’s no fix available yet. The recommendation for the time being is to avoid syncing the Wesnoth user directory with OneDrive.
General bugs:
  • Preprocessor errors corrupt cache (issue #1924). If this happens you have to wipe your cache. That can be done in Preferences → Cache.
Bugs specific to macOS:
  • Trackpad tap clicking is sometimes not recognized (forum post).
  • Unofficial builds with OpenMP support enabled randomly freeze (issue #1260).

The multiplayer server for 1.14.x is up and running. This server allows players using all stable releases from this series, including the 1.14 release candidates (1.13.12 and alter).

The add-ons server for 1.14.x is already running. It was started for 1.13.12 and it serves all stable releases from this series.
If you encounter any problems involving add-ons not working as expected, please notify the content’s author or maintainer.

If you find any bugs, do not hesitate to report them, but please read the instructions on how to report bugs first! As bug reports in the forums tend to be forgotten, you will get better results using our bug tracker. We need your help for finding and fixing issues, no matter how obvious, trivial or complicated they seem!

Hi!
I am going to finish Russian translation for 1.14 in forthcoming weeks but if there are plans to release 1.14.6 soon, please inform me so I would submit files that already have been done.

Hello Aldarisvet,

That are good news! Release Planing to 1.14.6 is similar to your plans, maybe late January.
We are going to enter the String Freeze for 1.14.6 soon. The time from the start of the String Freeze until the final 1.14.6 tagging will be longer than the previous times, you can submit translations until ~1 day before the tagging.
In the past the duration of the String Freeze was 1 week, please contact Vultraz so he can take your plans into account for setting the release date.

At the Start of the String Freeze new translation files will be generated, which will contain the string changes since 1.14.5.
Please submit your files right after that, so that they will be merged into the new files. Afterwards you can work with the new files.

Please send us again a submission before the release tagging, or when the translation is complete, whatever happens first.

Also, we do have now an Russian language channel in Discord, there are likely more people who would like to help with the Russian translation.
The German channel was heavily used for working on the translation, it played a crucial role for getting the translation ready in time for 1.14.0.

You should subscribe to the internationalization mailing list if you haven’t done so already, since that’s where we post announcements relevant to translators including string freeze and release dates.

Thank you, I've subscribed to the mailing list.
And about the Russian channel, the problem is not to find people who want to help. There is no such problem for me because Russian community has its own site and a 1,5k group in Russian social network.
The problem is to find those who can do it expertly and accurately. Because it is totally not an easy work.
I will hurry up my work with the translation.
