Wesnoth 0.8.5 released

Post by miyo »

Elen síla lúmenn' omentielmo.

We were unable to reach MightyRabbit for comments.

Translation teams have continued working hard, more translations have been converted to gettext, lots of updates for existing translations, work for Greek and Russian translations has begun - check translation statuses at http://gettext.wesnoth.org

We now have campaign server where unofficial campaigns can be uploaded and easily fetched through campaign selection interface. Multiplayer improvements including some new maps and choosing your leader. Scenario balancing for most campaigns and tutorial updates. 14 new units. Remade Drakes. User interface, graphics and AI improvements. English language polishing. Code cleanups and improvements. Many bug fixes - check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org

Downloads:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

Wesnoth-lite should be fully working Wesnoth, it just lacks music and story images (making it smaller and therefore faster to download):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download

As a fallback you can also get files from http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.

devsrv.wesnoth.org is running 0.8.5 and can be used for multiplayer games.

Instructions for bug reporting can be found - http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs

Debian GNU/Linux, Mandrakelinux, Mac OS X, BeOS and Microsoft Windows packagers have been informed.

Namárië,

obviously, i would think... sithrandel/whoever probably hasn't even made the 0.8.5 binary yet.

Incorrect. package for Mac OS X existed before 0.8.5 was even released (built against 0.8.5rc5 which was released as 0.8.5). This time u$win package is missing...

SourceForge mirrors are not yet synced... as usual.

... or its not up yet...

the point is if you wait, all will become clear.

and it should be expected that it takes a while to get a new release out, for whatever reason, so you shouldn't expect the mac package to be available overnight.

Heanet mirror is working. Sirp has built u$win binary and it can be fetched from http://files.wesnoth.org. I will soon upload u$win binary to SourceForge.

* Mac OS X package has been uploaded to http://files.wesnoth.org
* u$win package has been uploaded to SourceForge

And now I return back to the shadows (of no forum reading/writing).
