Hi sakmon, the package base for Mint Felicia is that of Ubuntu Intrepid which provides Wesnoth 1.4.5. A simpler solution than getting and compiling Wesnoth 1.8 would be to use the 1.6 release that you can get on PlayDeb.net.

Are you sure you're using version 1.6? (Attached screenshots show how to check the version.) If you use 1.6, you should be able to play multiplayer games on the official server (as you can tell by, for example, these replays).

First of all, before installing wesnoth 1.8 you should really upgrade because if the info on the page norbert has linked to isn't wrong then the support for your version will end at the end of the month.

Bit of an exaggeration there? :P
21 Apr: 542 replays / 22 Apr: 483 replays / 23 Apr: 483 replays

Anyways, like adm says, you should probably just upgrade your whole system, not just Wesnoth...

Mint 7 is based on ubuntu 9.04, which does not have wesnoth 1.8 and won't have it. Mint 8/ubuntu 9.10 doesn't have wesnoth 1.8 yet either, but it will soon.

The other option is to compile it yourself.
