Windowed mode unplayable
In Mac OS X version 5.2 CVS, windowed mode is so laggy as to be unplayable. Is this just a problem with my computer? (iBook )

Fate is like an unpopular restaurant in which odd waiters come and give you things you didn't ask for and don't always like.

With the SDL libraries windowed mode uses Mac OS X windows. These are double buffered anyway (to give those fancy fading effects of Mac OS X) so effectively push around at least twice as many pixels as fullscreen (which bypasses some of the Mac's buffering).
Hence windowed will be slower. On my G4 400MHz and G3 350MHz I find both versions normally playable, even with other things running in the background. The current compiled binary has the hit point problem with fullscreen. This is solved in the CVS source code. I might do another compile to incorporate this into the of-the-shelf Mac app.
