configure can't find SDL.h

Post by meton_magis »

I am an experienced linux user, using Fedora 8. I have tried compiling wesnoth from source, but it fails at the checking for SDL headers part. I have compiled plenty of software, and have even written some little stuff with SDL. However, i can't quite make out why it is failing. here is some stuff i think would be useful.

Fedora 8 X86_64 OS.
i have used the package manager yum to install ALL SDL devel files (image, ttf, mixer, net, and all others listed.)

$ locate SDL.h
/usr/include/SDL/SDL.h

I also see the headers for image, mixer, ttf, net, and the others with $locate SDL | grep SDL.*\.h$.
I can't for the life of me figure out why it would fail. I've compiled other apps that require SDL, so i dont know why this one fails.

Check the permissions of /usr/include/SDL/ (post the output of 'ls -l /usr/include/SDL/SDL.h').

config.log wrote:configure:11709: gcc -c -g -O2 -I/freetype2 -I -I/usr/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT conftest.c >&5
conftest.c:58:17: error: SDL.h: No such file or directory
Lone -I flag looks fishy to me..

According to config.log it was added by freetype-config, so try upgrading freetype.
