Continuity error in Heir to the Throne's writing.

Just after one crosses the Ford of Abez, there's this line: "Across the river were lands few humans had ever visited." How does that fit with the fact that their is known to be an entire human town nearby (Dwarven Doors) according to the map and Northern Rebirth?
