I'm pretty sure several people (myself included) beat HttT with only shamans recruited, back in the day.

It's not even that difficult, actually. Horsemen only is harder.

It must be a pain - especially in the underground scenarios. Anyone made a no recalls playthrough?

when you guys say that you won with only shamans, does that mean that you recalled advancements of the shaman line or that you really recruited only level 1 shamans?

Yep, that's a fun thing to do!

Recalling advancements is OK. I'm sure it couldn't be done otherwise. When I did it I allowed any recalls, and could use the loyal units. (But no one from the Isle of the Damned unfortunately--you can't recruit shamans there.) Not that you really need them when you are spamming sylphs!
