with your latest sprites are you still aiming for "historically accurate as possible". If so I already see several issues with them in historical context.

this is the line were the names of social roles might not fid the best (thegn, huskarl aka housecarl), but I wouldn't see anything else problematic.
what exactly are you referring too?

Well if you are going to make them into berserk line I can understand why they are not wearing armor with duel wielding axes. The standing army of the vikings had at least leather/pelt or thick clothing armor. With more wealthy vikings having more metal arms/armor. Well that is what I have researched and watched on documentaries.

funny that you say that, this is indeed a berserk line.
also I have to mention that the design of some of my units are inspired from History Channel's Vikings. this one for instance reminds me to Rollo , Ragnar's brother. He always fought without armour/shirt, but instead of two axes he had only one. His hairstyle is more unique though. Similar to Halfdan the Black.

anyway, when I said "historically accurate" I was more referencing to the fact that they preferred axes and swords over other weapons, that they have not dealt with magic (they had shamans, but I felt they are off in my faction design) and are all skilled fighters, even the females. They have abilities such as shield-wall and shield-cover linked to shield-wall. they had great ship craftsmanships, so one of the two lv4 units in the faction is a boat. but this will get clearer through out the next days.

I look forward to receive you feedback/opinion on them.

here is the second advancement for the thegn.
his fighting style is inspired by flokis weapon choice from History Channel's Vikings series. His head though doesn't corespondent.
maybe the lv 2 needs more different to the lv3.

I actually quite like these sprites. Only comments are that the chin looks a little wide to me, could be made a little narrower, and that some of the arms look a little weird (like the bow arm of the T1 - the elbow doesn't look like it's in the right spot to me).

Do all of the units in this line have axes? Because it would be kind of weird if the first unit had a completely different melee weapon compared to it's advancements.

yes i see what you mean on both sides. the chin looks a bit masculin and the elbow has one pixel too much at the wrong place. it will be fixed. noted.

here is the second advancement to the jagare.
as you see this one actually kept the axe.

the idea was that one keeps the appearance and the other keeps the weaponry. anyway. first line is a ranger type trained in melee and ranged and the second line is specialised in ranged, but ofc knows how to swing an axe too.
