I want to make an advancement for the Woodland Enchanter. It is a really cool lvl 4 nature mage and I would love to have an advancement for it. :) ... But I am having a bit of trouble deciding where to begin. Mages are hard to draw because they don't just get bigger and more armor when they advance (unlike normal units) and so I would appreciate any advice for how I could draw this!

Here is the current Nature Mage and Woodland Enchanter:

Also any ideas for a name would be good. Currently I am thinking something like Creationer or Ethereal something but for a lvl 5 unit this powerful I would prefer a really good name 8)

Well you could always change the staff to a bigger staff or other weapons related.

As to a name one could have "forest sage/warlock" , "floramancer"

There is a very rare word "thaumaturge" which means a worker of wonders and performer of miracles; a magician

Thanks that is a good idea! I really like Thaumaturge! 8)

A derivation of that word is used in the description of Arch Mage.

Hi josteph, sorry I missed this post before. :)

Yes very true. I like the idea of the thaumaturge as a great worker of wonders. I believe for the Nature Mage in particular it fits well because most would not even be able to imagine the works of magic that they can do.

In contrast with the more traditional arcane mages and fire mages the Nature mage uses a variety of techniques combining nature and fire and arcane which is a very powerful force.

Here are the differnt lvl 4 mages for comparison:

They are all very fun units to play, though the Prophetess of Fire may be a bit over powered with both leadership and backstab ^_^ 8)

What I would love is to see a Magi campaign where you develop your academy of mages. :D

Hi! After a while of inactivity and working on the DF balancing I have come back to life. ;)

This is an interesting attempt by myself to start creating a lvl 5 Elvish Shyde. So far it looks nice but doesn't seem like a lvl 5 unit:

Any thoughts or comments are welcome! :)

To be honest, it looks muddled. I can't tell what is going on with the shoulder and wings - there seems to be a sharp border between the wings and spaulders. There is also no consistent border on the left side, where the shadow is.

I don't mean to be a jerk, just trying to give critique. I could be wrong.

Hi doofus-01, thank you for the comments! That is very helpful advice! :) I will try adding some shadow on the wings and giving it more consistency.
