Re: Mechanical's art

Post by Mechanical »

Hi there! After a long break, I went back to drawing sprites. Now I'm redrawing my old faction of the northerners. Look: on the left is an old sprite of a noble militia, on the right is a new one. Do you think I'm getting better at drawing?

i' ve seen all of your art and yes, your drawings clearly got better. The pixels are more precise and the shading much more convincing.

the new fighter looks very good, i like it. However, it seems very far away from the original unit.
Maybe just use it as a complete new unit?

Hello all! I draw again. Now we ForestDragon make a faction of ogres. The first sprite is an ogre infantry.

The arm looks too big and strong compared to his body.
Otherwise, great work, keep like that =).

Hmm, you're right, EarthCake. I fixed the hand (new version on my avatar).

I don't think the ogres arm is too strong for its body. they are supposed to be strong.
I would rather move the shield one or two pixel away from its body. It's too close. Also the pan't look very human-ish but i wouldn know how to fix that. Probably by exposing some of the lower legs, but that would require a lot of redrawing.

The looks ok as well but something is wrong. I would say the head is too small. Horses are big animals and have large heads. Also it's fron left leg is very thin. It looks like a stick.

welcome back anyway!

Hi, Mechanical.

I am pleased to inform you that I used your old sprite of a plant with an eye in my campaign (which is finally finished for several months already).
Just recolored it so it would look as undead.

Also they permanently banned me in the dead Russian forum for my half-seriously complaining about how boring Wesnoth is (compared with some other games).
That is funny, they banned a Russian translator in the Russian forum )))))

Hi Mechanical welcome back! And great horse :) I really like the way you have made it look like it has a personality, compared with the traditional wesnoth mounts.

I changed the design of my old ogres. Now they are nomadic ogres. They will be dressed in leather armor, skins, and their weapons will be made from the bones of the animals they graze.

Howdy, I just found your art, and I must say that I absolutely adore your 16th century Wesnoth sprites, they are awesome, I'd love to see some more some day.

LordAwsomeness, thank you.

The_Quixotic_King, unfortunately, I have abandoned the idea of the 16th century. I'm currently drawing other projects.

Work with the ogres continues. I drew a test version of the infantry Ogre line. Sprites will still be finalized.

From left to right: horde grunt, foreman, centurion.

I've been here for more than a decade and I must confess I truly adore your art style. In my opinion you are one of the most talented sprite artists I've encountered so far. The units you're drawing have well-balanced shapes, interesting color palettes and insane level of detail. The infantry Ogre line is a perfect example of this. These units are just spectacular.

You evolve in a great way. Keep up the good work! :)

These are great and fits the theme of what we already know of Ogres in Wensoth in general.

The only issue I have noticed is the right sprite in the grunt line. The axe seems quite big maybe take one of the segments out might make it less excessive.

I agree, those gunt_line.png are great. I like the detailing of the kilt trim on the center one,
